The History Of The Josh Cellars Wine Logo

We see wine everywhere–from liquor and grocery stores to ads and magazines. Books and magazines are known to showcase some of the finest wines in the market, including Kendall Jackson, Louis Roederer, and Robert Mondavi. However, one specific wine has dominated wine lovers’ hearts and has recently taken the internet by storm.

Josh Cellar’s wine seems to be everywhere you turn, and the internet has been obsessed with this tasty, sophisticated, and yet inexpensive wine. The Josh Cellars Wine sits in the $12 to $25 a bottle range, an excellent price for the quality of the wine customers can purchase.

They offer all the popular flavors, including chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. You’ll likely find these wines in your local Target, CVS, or Walmart.

However, these wines are so easy to recognize and find on the shelves because of the Josh Cellars Wine logo. This logo has all the elements necessary to stand out and make a difference in the competition. It’s sleek and classy, giving the energy the company wants to display to those new to their business.

It’s simplistic and yet has character that allows it to stand out. The company grew in popularity after the memes started hitting the internet. Let’s look at the famous logo and the company’s history and unpack the iconic memes that have been dominating the internet.

First, let’s examine the logo itself. This iconic emblem is known for the white label and black, italic script that showcases the name. The logo is fairly simplistic, showing the name in black against a white label with the wine description below it.

The logo tends to differ depending on the wine bottle it’s shown on, sometimes with gold letters or a black label. However, the sophisticated font and simplistic appearance are always the same, creating a classic and iconic, recognizable, sleek look.

Outside of the company’s famous logo, the wine company itself has an interesting and eventful history that led to the popularity it’s gathered today. The American winery was launched in 2007 by Joseph Carr, an American vintner who grew up in Upstate New York.

Carr started developing the company in 2005 when he collaborated with winemaker Tom Larson, who was based in Sonoma. Only two years after the development process was started, Josh Cellars launched their first wine in 2007. The company was still in the early stages, and the first batch of wine was sold out of the back of Carr’s truck with his wife Dee’s assistance. The company has expanded beyond the back of a truck and now includes 11 varieties.

Four years after selling their first batch of wine, Josh Cellars was acquired by the beverage industry Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits. Although Carr remained the owner and face of the company, the beverage industry took over the company’s marketing, production, and sales.

The company’s new ownership caused Josh Cellars to blossom, and they saw massive growth and an increase in sales. The company has four facilities spread worldwide, with one located in Italy. They have eleven varieties and have gained immense popularity, becoming one of the most famous wine companies. In addition to their eleven varieties, they also have a reserve collection of barrel-aged wine.

Joseph Carr created Josh Cellar as a tribute to his father, Josh Carr. Josh died in 1992, and although not a winemaker, he was a military veteran who worked as a volunteer firefighter and lumberjack.

When he was creating the company, Carr’s mother jokingly suggested naming it after his father. However, Carr instantly liked the idea, and it stuck with him. He did name the company after his father, and it’s been known as Josh Cellars since.

wine meme on social media

So why is Josh Cellar Wine dominating the internet and shown everywhere? Well, it all started at the beginning of the New Year, January 6th, when @OptimusGrind__ on X, previously known as Twitter, shared a photo. This post showed a photo of Josh Cellars Merlot, and the caption read, “I’m not gonna keep telling y’all to group up and leave that Stella & Barefoot alone.”

This was the first step towards encouraging people to choose Josh Wine Cellar over other popular brands and starting a new trend. The post quickly went viral, and users on the social media platform came in to give their input on the wine and how it compared to other wines.

Many users hadn’t tasted the wine yet and took to the comments to ask questions, one user asked, “Is it too sweet?” and the user that originally posted responded with, “It’s not sweet but not extremely dry neither.”

However, other users had tasted the wine and were quick to give their opinion. User @David49ers7 commented, “Bro, that wine is trash” and another user commented, “I can smell the wine. It’s a no for me.” Most users, having tasted the wine before or not, were quick to pursue the comments to defend their top-shelf choice.

One user commented with a photo of an Opus One one and said, “Let me introduce you to something better.” Another shared a photo of a bottle of Pra Vinera and commented, “Please no Josh lol here’s something that’s light well balanced and literally the same price but tastes ALOT better.”

User @SolasXOXO even posted and admitted they didn’t know what Josh Cellar Wine was. This is where the company appeared, quickly commenting “Me.” This was when users took off with a hilarious meme storm, unable to resist the opportunity to joke around with the brand.

Memes quickly flooded the social media platform, with users posting “It’s Josh o’clock somewhere” and fitting it into Zac Brown Band’s song Chicken Fried by posting: “Josh wine on a Friday night, pair of jeans that fit just right.” The memes kept coming, with users all over the platform sharing hilarious memes about Josh.

Josh Cellars is far from bothered by the attention; in fact, they seem more thrilled by it. The team joined in on the meme action, sharing a post to Instagram that said, “Us trying to log into twitter lol.” A few other memes were also shown in the post, all encouraging the action on X and creating their own memes about the action.

The chief brand officer of Josh Cellars also commented on the unexpected attention from the social media platform when he talked to Food & Wine. “We’re happily surprised with the online attention and have enjoyed following along with the memes that have popped up over the last week,” he commented. “They’ve been creative, given us a good laugh, and we’ve had fun responding and engaging in the conversation. Some people post images, Reels, and videos of themselves buying the brand for the first time. This is a great outcome for us, as we believe in the quality of our wines.

Maybe it’s all the users catching on to the contagious energy, or perhaps it’s merely that the memes are spreading like wildfire on social media platforms, but the action hasn’t slowed down.

X is still active, with memes rolling out daily, and Josh is still a hot topic on the platform. We expect this will cause quite a substantial rise in sales and popularity for the company.

Merely the attention alone has increased awareness for the brand, and now that they’re capitalizing on the moment, we expect that the attention will only increase.

Overall, the Josh Cellars Wine logo is iconic and has been showcased immensely on social media; specifically X.

This is due to the recent meme storm that has dominated X, with users creating memes about the popular wine.

The brand has joined the fun, creating memes and commenting on some posts. The logo has been a substantial aspect of the company’s success and has stood as a recognizable pillar for the public.

Above, we discussed the history of the company, its name, and the recent popularity of the memes on X.
