Tell designers how it will be printed
Screen printing, direct to garment and embroidery each impose different limits. Give the garment color, the print method if you know it, the maximum number of ink colors, and the placement and print area. Designers can work inside a three color limit happily, as long as they know about it before they start.
Design for the person wearing it
A shirt is judged at arm's length on a body, not zoomed in on a screen. The entries that survive are the ones that stay legible from a few steps away, so look at each candidate small before you shortlist it.
Files, rights and payment
On award you receive the layered source file plus JPG, PNG, TIFF, EPS and PDF, and full commercial rights transfer to you. Designers are paid the prize on the 1st and the 14th of each month via PayPal. Additional pieces are available at $100 each from the winning designer after the award.
Timing, upgrades and the guarantee
