After all, these green and black bottled energy drinks are exactly what’s needed when you need an afternoon pick me up that’s tasty and a little addictive. Monster Energy, the brand that’s been around since April 2002 and is known for its products that make their way to just about every store’s shelves, has become successful and well-known over time.

Although you may remember the taste of these energy drinks when you take the first sip, the biggest piece of branding that people associate with the company is their classic logo that’s made its mark on all areas of the company. Like many brands, Monster Energy has relied heavily on its branding material to establish a strong brand that has a personality and character that makes a recognizable brand.

Both the brand itself and the logo have interesting histories, with the logo being one of the longest standing without changing even the slightest. If you’re interested in knowing how the logo came to be and what has made it so iconic, read on to learn all the details about both the logo and the company.

2002 – Present: The Logo Since The Beginning and Today

The logo is indeed such an iconic logo that it’s been around for almost two decades without even the slightest of changes. The visual identity was shown instantly when the company was founded and the brand thought it so excellent that there’s been no change since then. The design was developed by the professional design studio that came up with the one-of-a-kind logo. The logo shows a giant neon green ‘M’ on a black background.

What makes this logo unique and stand out from the competition is the lettering that’s used for the ‘M’. The lettering used is a stylized claw mark that appears like it could have been made by a wild monster. The scratches are unique and add a new air of mystery to the brand. Below the symbol is the company name and the letters for this are also torn-looking and unique.

The logo overall is certainly different than what you see with the competition, giving a fresh look in the industry and perfectly describing the brand. It’s no wonder that the logo hasn’t changed even in the smallest way for the past two decades with the careful attention to detail and how original it is. The reason for this logo being such and famous and iconic masterpiece is due to the elements that bring it together and the simplicity that makes it easy to remember.

Who Created The Logo?

The logo was created by designers from McLean Design, a firm that’s based in Walnut Creek, California. The firm specializes in both brand and packaging design and has a long list of famous brands that they’ve worked with. They’ve helped Coca-Cola, amongst other brands, to develop their brand. Their goal with their designs is to create lasting impressions through their designs and to help companies build a brand with a personality

The Font Used in The Logo

The unique part about the Monster Energy logo and the part that stands out is the original lettering. The lettering is one of a kind, using twisted and unique lettering that has become a signature trademark of the brand. The font is the same style as the ‘M’ symbol to the left of the company name, showing a handwritten font that appears like claw scratches.

This ties in with the company name and is one of the signature aspects of the company. The font has become so well known that even without the symbol customers can easily recognize what company it belongs to and it’s become associated with the Monster Energy drinks that they purchase.

The font defines the wordmark and without it, we can certainly say that the logo wouldn’t be what we know it as today.

The Colors Used In The Logo

The colors in the logo play a big part in the success of the visual identity, and it only relies on three colors. The main color is the neon green that’s used for the symbol and the white and black that are used for the words. The neon color that’s used is considered the brightest shade of green by experts, lighting up the logo. The color is spot on with the brand’s personality and mission.

The white makes the logo appear clean, straightforward, and modern. The color white simply makes the brand look good and stand out from the competition. The black color that they bring in balances out the other colors and also adds some mystery, elegance, wealth, and fear to the otherwise clean and stylish logo. The colors used in the logo work together to create a one-of-a-kind combination.

The History Of Monster Energy

Similar to the company’s logo, Monster Beverage has an interesting and long backstory behind them. The company was created by Hansen’s Natural in 2002 and since then has grown to be one of the most popular brands when it comes to energy drinks. They now have over 34 flavors that you can choose from and are considered to be the second bestseller in the energy drinks category. Red Bull is the only one that’s above them, but both brands are very similar to each other with the energy drinks that they offer. Originally Monster Energy drinks were only available in two flavors; the original flavor and the reduced calorie flavor.

These flavors were incredibly popular and stayed with the company until 2007 when coffee companies started to come into the industry. They were competing with energy drinks companies and coffee drinks were becoming more popular. This was when Monster Energy knew they had to branch out and they started with making hybrid versions. These versions included coffee in their mixes and Monster made sure to include a warning label letting customers know the amount safe to consume.

A rather interesting fact about Monster Energy is that the parent company, Hansen’s Natural, originally started by making fruit juices. The parent company that was responsible for creating Monster Energy originally claimed that their drinks were made with only natural ingredients. The family-run business was first focused on making drinks that were good for you and made with natural ingredients.

Although it was their main focus, fruit juices weren’t all that the company tried. In the 1970s they experimented with sodas but ultimately decided to continue with creating natural products. However, that certainly didn’t last long and it took a turn when they launched Monster Energy Drinks in 2002. Around this time the energy drink market started to rapidly take off so the parent company knew that this could be a successful market for them if done correctly.

They were right! Monster Energy was immediately successful and become incredibly popular instantly after it was launched. What’s ironic about this success? As we’re sure you’re already familiar with, Monster Energy drinks aren’t exactly classified as healthy or natural at all. The drinks come with a warning that they can be dangerous if too much is consumed and they have a fair amount of sugar in each drink.

Does Red Bull Own Monster Energy?

One of the most common assumptions about Monster Energy is that it’s owned by the very famous energy drink company, Red Bull. But despite what people assume, Monster Energy is not owned by Red Bull and the two have never had any connection to each other. Besides both of them being popular in the world of energy drinks and having been made into successful brands, the two companies have nothing to do with one another. So although you may see them both when you go to grab a boost of energy, remember that they have nothing in common besides both being popular energy drink brands.

What Flavor Is Most Popular?

With the vast number of flavors that are available in the market, it can be hard to choose one if you’re trying Monster Energy for the first time. There are over 34 flavors on the market for Monster Energy and all of them are popular. However, the most popular in the U.S. is the Green Monster Energy Classic. Although the brand has come out with other brands and now has a wide collection, the classic is continually a fan favorite and the brand that loyal customers continue to return to.

Do They Offer A Discount?

Monster Energy drinks aren’t exactly budget-friendly and many people are curious to see if there’s a discount that they can get on the drink. Unfortunately, the brand never offers coupons to its customers. However, some stores that carry the products may offer special deals that you can take advantage of when you go to purchase your boost of energy. So if you’re looking to get a few dollars off your next energy drink from the company, you might not be able to find a discount but you might be able to find a good deal at your local store.

Can Kids Consume Energy Drinks?

Since they’re flavorful and have such bright packaging, it’s a common assumption that they’re safe for children to consume. However, this is not true and it’s not advised for children to drink Monster Energy drinks. Energy drinks contain both stimulants and additives. With the amount of sugar, chemicals, and caffeine that these drinks contain they can be harmful to children. If you’re undecided, opt to give your children water instead of energy drinks as a part of their diet.

Summing Up The History Of The Monster Logo

When you need some energy, usually a classic Monster Energy drink is exactly what you’ll reach for. The brand has become iconic and recognizable, with loyal followers that depend on their drinks to get them through the day. We can certainly contribute a fair amount of their success and how they become so memorable to the brand’s iconic and signature emblem. The brand itself has become rapidly iconic and has learned how to navigate its way even through negative situations and turn them around into something good for the brand.

The Monster Energy logo has stayed the same since it was very first created, with the company staying consistent from the very start of its existence. We don’t see the logo changing anytime soon since it’s already stayed the same throughout the years. The logo is one of a kind, having created the company into a signature, recognizable and memorable brand that has many loyal followers. The Monster Energy logo is simply proof that there’s no need to change a logo design that’s working and getting the job done.

When we look at the logo and its history, we can see that the font that the logo uses and the colors are what distinguish it from other logos in the industry. The font is original and stands out on the logo while the colors are bright and suit the brand. This logo is an excellent example of a logo that has made its mark in the industry and that is unique and simple. We think that the brand and logo both have a history that makes their brand stronger and gives them the energy that we see shown to this day!
