We’re always intrigued with the contests that are run on the site and this one caught our attention as we were looking on the site. This logo design contest saw a variety of unique concepts and the winning entry embraced the spirit of the brand and what it stands for. The logos entries were all equally beautiful and unique, using interesting design concepts to create beautiful designs. We thought that we would share this contest with you, showing a few of our favorite concepts, a little about the company, and the winning result.

The client started the process by filling out a contest brief describing exactly what they were looking for. They gave the creatives some information about their company to give them an idea of their brand and what they were expecting. They gave details about their audience and what they wanted for their business. They were looking for a new version of their logo and still wanted to embrace some of the elements from the previous logo to keep the branding consistent and recognizable.
In the contest brief, they described their request in the following, “The bird in our logo stays and could possibly be updated as the head and right wing at times do not show all that well, particularly when embroidered on clothing. I would like to see versions that use the acronym BGR which is made the prominent component and incorporates the bird into it as well as versions where the bird is made the centerpiece and Balfour Golf & Recreation is incorporated.”
This first entry is simplistic and only uses black and white as the colors. The company name is shown boldly in black letters on a white background at the bottom of the design. Above the words is shown a mountain with an eagle flying above it. Two trees are to the left of the mountain, creating a nice image and a unique concept.
This second entry brings in a third gold color that ties well with the black and white color palette. This entry shows an eagle at the center and makes the three letters above it the center of attention. While the letters, the eagle, the trees, and the outline of the mountain are in black the rest is in white and gold.
This entry uses gold and black on a white background. The main focus is on the company name, with an eagle flying through the letters in gold and the rest of the words in black below. The letters stand out in comparison to the white background and everything ties together well. This logo entry is bold and pays attention to the letters to make sure it catches the eye.
This entry opts to use only black on grey background for the entry. The eagle is a big part of the entry, showing it at the top and making it the center of the design. Below the eagle is shown the company name in bold black letters. This logo entry is simple while still making an impact with the eagle symbol at the top.
Here we see a more detailed entry that focuses on the symbol and the letters equally. There’s a circle towards the left of the company name and inside there’s a scene. We see the eagle in gold and the mountains, river, trees, and sky in black and white. The first part of the company name is in black while the second part is in gold. The design overall is more detailed while also keeping it simple enough to easily fit on marketing material.
This creative opted to go in a completely different with their design, this time using sleek and stylish letters for the logo. Above the company name, a mountain and a gold eagle are flying through it. The eagle is smaller in this entry, standing out in the gold against the black and white mountain. The whole design is shown on a white background and makes a unique concept.
This entry is more elegant than the others submitted to the contest, tying in the eagle. This one uses only gold and black colors on a white background. A gold strand is swirling through the letters, creating an elegant and stylish symbol. Above it shows an eagle flying, both detailed and unique.
This design takes a change with the color scheme by incorporating green into the design. It uses both light and dark green. The logo still uses the original colors of gold, black, and white. To the right is the company name in black while to the left is a design symbol. It shows a black eagle soaring above the initials which incorporate a tree and gold for the ‘A’.
This entry is more detailed than any of the others submitted, creating scenery for the logo. The design shows the company name, replacing the ‘O’ in the first part of the name with a golf ball and flag. Above the name, there’s a golden eagle flying and a scene with mountains and trees. Parts of the logo are in gold while other parts are in black, all of them on a white background.
This creative opted to go in a different direction by using a few different shades of green. This one shows an eagle soaring above with the company name below and a golf green. Most of this design symbol is shown in different shades of green while the last part of the name and the eagle are in gold. The design is shown on a white background.
This entry shifts the focus to the name instead of the symbol, making the letters the center of attention for the design. BGR is shown at the top in the biggest letters in black, while below it shows the rest of the name in gold and brown. Inside the first ‘G’ there’s a scene, showing an eagle flying and mountain scenery. The logo is bold and unique and puts all of the focus onto the name.
After reviewing all the entries submitted to the contest the client finally settled on their winning entry that they would use as their new company logo. The winning entry is shown above and was submitted by Hatchwise creative azka.
This one is creative and bold, taking elements and tying them together to create a logo that displays what the company does while still being stylish.
