Carlos needed a killer logo for his website and is glad he found Hatchwise and loved how easy it was to hold a design contest!
Some platforms enlisted top-tier designers from day one, while others pulled their initial look together almost overnight. Over the years, many of these logos have faced big challenges—from slight tweaks that annoyed users to complete overhauls that sent social media into a tailspin.
Today, we’ll dive into the histories of some of the most recognizable social media logos out there—Facebook, Twitter (now “X”), Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Medium, and Snapchat. Along the way, we’ll consider what these stories reveal about logo design in general. By the end, you’ll see that a logo is about much more than looking cool on an app screen—it reflects a brand’s identity, goals, and the relationship it hopes to build with its users.
Today’s featured contest is for Hatchwise client dawnvv. They wanted a logo for their YouTube channel, where they post videos related to all things baby. Their target audience is women between the ages of 25 and 45.
In the design brief, our client requested a navy blue background with “BabyLunaLuna” written in gold. They also asked for a crescent or full moon to be included in the design. Even with these fairly specific parameters, they still received a variety of different concepts to choose from.
The final logo will be used on their website, business cards, and merchandise.

Let’s take a look at a recent contest for an upscale picnic catering and event planning company. This is a very niche industry and it needed a fantastic logo to get customers’ mouths watering. Our designers were eager to whip up a delicious logo! Read on to see the entries we thought were most enticing … and which one took the cake.
Boujee Picnic LLC wanted a logo for their company, which curates luxury picnics for date nights, celebrations, etc. They requested that the design ” incorporate the traditional picnic basket but make it “Boujee”!”
Some brands might struggle with capturing this feeling of imagination and translating it into a logo design, but Pixar did not. As Pixar’s imagination continued to grow over the years, its logo only became more popular.
The same logo that was unveiled with the brand in 1994 is the same logo you’ll find today. Given this, it’s safe to say Pixar knows a thing or two about logo design, and for the remainder of this blog post, we’ll highlight these lessons and more.
