In our world today, female CEOs are a rare breed. The US is filled with male leaders, especially when it comes to the business world. In 2015 the US showed that there were more CEOs named John running big companies in America then there were women.
Although we have made strides since 2015 with representing women in the work industry, these facts put into perspective the lack of women CEOs in our country. Although the facts aren’t quite as startling when it comes to the UK, the situation there is very similar to the US’s.
This is especially startling to find out once knowing that research shows that companies are more apt to do better with diverse leadership within the company. There are plenty of stats that will tell you just how important it is that companies have a variety of genders in their workplace and leadership positions.
Many people, especially when it comes to the business industry, assume that having one or two women represented on their leadership board is enough. Merely having a few women within the company is often seen as enough and the inclusion will stop there.
But this is not enough; there should be women in every level of leadership within the company, not just shown at a seniority level. You’ll find that, by having women at every level of leadership, not only will this be a good example and encouragement to other women further down the line but will also normalize the situation.
