Featured Design Contest: Heroes American Cafe – Cafe Logo

Note: the client chose to change the name spelling on their original design once they received their final artwork.

We’ve gotten to see some amazing contests run here at Hatchwise. One of our favorites is this logo contest that was run for a cafe. The contest received over 200 entries from some of the most talented Hatchwise creatives. We’re always happy to see the results that clients get from their contests, especially when it’s a result that they both love and use! 

Get To Know The Company 

Heroes American Cafe is a restaurant that offers a friendly atmosphere where members of their community can gather and meet together over a good, healthy meal. All food is made with the most premium ingredients to ensure that customers get only the best food. Fresh veggies, premium deli meat, and fresh bread and cheese. 

Heroes encourages their community to come to the cafe even if they just want to spend some time relaxing and listening to music. Their menu is filled with food for everyone that will lift your spirits and leave you feeling content. The Hero staff is friendly and available to serve customers. 

The cafe is located in four different locations; Portland, Downtown Portland, Grants Pass, and Medford Oregon. They offer Chipotle-style food, specifically offering sandwiches and subs to guests, but in different variations than what you’d normally receive. Guests can choose to have their sandwich served on a bun, bowl, or roll. 

Heroes make sure that they serve only the freshest and healthiest food available. Their menu has a variety of different options including salads and sandwiches that are made from the best deli meats and freshly delivered veggies from sources around. A few of Heroe’s well-known dishes and local favorites are their Philly Cheese Steak, Gourmet Burgers, and over-sized Burritos. 

Heros American Cafe has participated in multiple events, including fundraising. They have a simple concept that allows them to give back to the community simply and easily. This is done through a non-profit program called Group Raise. Eat at Heroe’s on a fundraising day and then a percentage of the sales will be given to the organization in cash. This is a way that Heroes supports their organization and gives back. 

Heroes also has held local events in the past, including their “Take The Challenge”. The challenge was to finish one of Heroes ¾ Pounder Bacon Cheeseburger in ten minutes. The winner won a Heroes Designer Cap!

Heroes has run other similar challenges, one being their contest where customers shared a picture of them eating their Heroes Hot Philly and shared it to Facebook. The picture with the most likes won and was awarded a $50 Heroes Gift Card. These challenges have easily made them a local favorite in the community!

What Was Asked For 

Heroes American Cafe signed up with Hatchwise and requested a logo for their cafe. They gave information on their company, including what they offer and the style of their restaurant. They described what they were looking for in their brief, letting the Hatchwise creatives know what to include and what they didn’t want. 

They requested that the American flag be included since the cafe has an American theme. Since the name, Heroes, comes from the idea of patriotic American heroes and honoring American heroes, they wanted the logo to be very patriotic and truly show what the restaurant is about. They said that they were thinking of an American flag waving for the logo. 

What Were The Results?

The winning entry, submitted by Hatchwise creative smarttaste. 

Once submitting the contest brief, Hatchwise creatives started flooding the contest with design entries based on the contest brief. They reviewed entries and gave feedback to the creatives until they found the perfect logo. Their contest received a total of 209 entries by 104 creatives. Heroes American Cafe paid a total of only $250.00 for their winning entry.

After reviewing all the entries, Heroes American Cafe chose their winning logo design. The winning logo is displayed on their website and other marketing advertisements, including their Facebook Page. 

We think that their winning logo is the perfect fit for their company and brand!
