Featured Design Contest: St. Patrick Lake Longbows – Archery Business Brochure Design

Brochures are always a great way for a client to show their company through an interesting perspective. In our day and age with so much being online, it can be refreshing to get to see accompany use print advertising. One of our favorite contests run is this Brochure Contest that was held by St. Patrick Lake Longbows. The contest received many creative entries and the winner was awarded a prize of $150!

Meet The Company

St. Patrick Lake Longbows is a company that designs and builds bows for archers of all ages and skill levels. Bower Erik Hoff believes that bows are the connection to nature that everyone needs in their lives. Every bow that is sold is constructed one at a time, each one unique and different from the rest. Erik saw the beauty in bows and knew that he could create bows that were unique and individual to each archer.

As someone who grew up not only exploring the outdoors and spending time with nature, Erik also grew up hunting and shooting a compound for many years. He grew up feeling a deep connection to nature and this was what prompted him to start creating bows. He wanted others to feel as close to the outdoors and one with nature as he did growing up. 

When he first began creating bows, they were just for his own personal use. Building bows soon became an addiction and Erik continued to make them. Now he sells them, all unique models that have proven to be incredible shooters and bring enjoyment to many archers. A few of these are some of St. Patrick Lake Longbows’s well-known models. 

The Minnesota Styk longbow is one of St. Patrick Lake Longbows’ models. Customers get to choose their glass and wood colors from a list of options. St. Patrick Lake Longbows gives the options for customers to upgrade their bow to clear glass. In this video posted to the company’s Facebook Page, you can see how the bows are created.

What Was Requested?

St. Patrick Lake Longbows requested a brochure design for their company that displayed their different bow models. They requested that the background be outdoorsy since they specialize in longbows. This brochure was for a print design that they could send out to customers that don’t use the internet.

They said that they would prefer if each model had its own page, with pictures for the models showcased. St. Patrick Lake Longbows wanted to show in this brochure the authenticity of the bows and how each one was crafted one by one, making each of them unique. Once submitting their contest brief, St. Patrick Lake Longbows watched the entries come in.

What Were The Results?

The winning entry, submitted by Hatchwise creative tatrasaputra.

After submitting their brief, St. Patrick Lake Longbows watched as our talented Hatchwise creatives submitted their design concepts. They were able to review the entries submitted and provide feedback, allowing the creatives to enter their different takes on the brochure based on the information offered.

After reviewing all the entries given, they chose the winning entry submitted by Hatchwise creative tatrasaputra. The client paid just $150 for the winning brochure design!
