Thanks brandasaur, jnjnnino, etpoff, rushtorp... My experience with this contest is an eye-opener. I agree with efpoff, hatchwise needs to provide better support from the start to contest holders. There needs to be more descriptions and questions to answer at the onset. As a contest holder obiviously I do not have the skill set to do this myself or I won't be looking for someone else's work. Along with that, if I don't have the experience how am I suppose to know coded, uncoded, and pricing, etccc. It pretty much sucks for me, because I was excited to use this site, not to get something for cheap but to get the opprotunity to see ideas from multiple designers. Had I known two weeks ago what I know now ...

Stacy - you've been a great contest holder (I've been watching this contest from the beginning) - and you are right - there needs to be more questions and help along the way. Personally, I think the first thing to do is ask the designers you have rated the highest if they are willing and able to put the site together for you (if so then you are probably okay). If not, when you pick a winner you should ask for a Layered PSD file (designers will know what this is). This way you walk out of this contest with a complete design. Since you want to manage your own site (blog - content - etc) you'll probably want a content management system (CMS) set up for you - and the one I would recommend is WordPress. You can get someone to slice up that design and create a theme for your site (code it). This person will make the design "live" and set up all of your other pages, social media links, video & photo collection, etc. Don't worry - you are on the right path. You are getting some excellent designs - you may just need to get a 2nd person to implement the design correctly! -Elizabeth

Hi Stacey and everyone. This project seems interesting to me. Just wanted to expand on the topic a little bit. brandasur is talking about coding a backend or is he talking a but using a content management system. There's just no way he is talking about coding anything here, lol. $500 budget just doesn't cover more than a few hours of customized content management template. Which is the optimal way to go for this project. In case we talk about actual custom programming the budget would grow up to 1k+. So not to let you be confused by some proud & senseless opinions I red above. You need to get a designed which will be then applied to a CMS (content management system) template. The best you can get is have this template implemented into a CMS, better in Wordpress, as it weights less and performs better than most. It will give you a back-end with all the features you have mentioned above. And $500 is a a bit too low for this. brandasaur seems to just mess with the rest :(

I'm a programmer more than a designer, i can code templates very easy, make the principal pages and i'm doing it for the same price. I use html, css and javascript, no php. I've been coding many html pages, i can send you examples if you want. I'm the only one here that can do this, more there will be no suplimentar costs. For me will be easyer to code it than it was to actually design it.

Remus: I want to see the session kept properly and no bugs...It's really hard to do better than PHP. CMSes took a lot of business from me I deeply hate them, but they are as good as it gets right now and I can say that I hate Wordpress way less than Joomla and the rest.

Stacey are you still with us ? I have just talked to my programmer guy, he also works with CMS. We both agree that $500 is a bit too much for just a layout design and a bit too little for the complete site. We can offer you a complete Word Press driven site with the features you have listed above for $850 all together. Look me up.
