Describe your company and organization and target audience.

I'm an author of early chapter books for children and I write adult women's fiction - all of my writing has a lot of humor. I have always made sure people understood my name "Jana" by saying it rhymes with "Banana" So, Jana Banana.

I'm also developing merchandise for kids as well as promotional items. i.e. t-shirts, hats, stickers, bookmarks, etc.

My target audience are kids aged 6-9 and their parents (primarily moms). As well as 30-50 year old women.

The design should have the following:

I initially designed a logo of a piece of crumpled yellow notepad paper with my company name, JANA VANDELAAR, INK on the top line, with an old fashioned ink pen crossing over the last letter 'K' to make up the top right hand side of the letter. The pen is a bit bigger than the letter K . At the bottom tip of the pen, which is lower than the company name, there is a big ink splotch. And, finally, underneath the company name I wrote Jana Banana. That ends where the ink splotch is. You can see it on the top of my facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/JanaVandelaar

It could be a banana... I thought of having a banana pen with my name going along the side. Or a banana pen writing my name.

I'd definitely like my branding colors as primary - Black and the yellow like a banana/yellow notepad color. Or, check my website because it has the color I like. It's yellow but with a tiny bit of an orange tint. www.janavandelaar.com

I want a sense of humor but professionally done. Also, I'll need it for merchandise. T-shirts, hats, stickers, on tags of my children's items, etc.

** I do like my idea that is the header of the facebook account listed above. The yellow notebook paper cumpled with my biz name in clear writing and the old fashioned writing ink pen. And the splotch of ink. I really like that. I just need it somehow simplified and professional. I think it ties in most of my checked boxes. And, with my "nickname" underneath, Jana Banana, it completes it. Maybe a banana to underline my name?? I don't know. But again if nothing else, I like my design and would like to see something similar, but professionally done.

This logo will be used for:

Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
Online (website, online advertising, banner ads etc.)
Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)
Signs (including shops, billboards etc.)
Television/screen

We do not want this in the entries:

This is difficult for me. I don't want it too feminine. I don't want it too artsy and "out there." I don't like pastel colors at all. Just the black and my yellow/mustard with maybe some white or dark navy blue. I've also added greys to some things on instagram. But, again, my main focus is black and the yellow. I want to focus on fun, but professional. Simple.
