A new logo is created annually for our City's Christmas Festival.  The name of the event is Lights On Festival.  It is a large event that brings 10-15K people to our downtown on the night of the event and thousands more visitors thru the holiday season. 

The event is attended by people of all ages and LOTS of families.  There are 35-50 different indoor & outdoor entertainment sites for attendees to enjoy.  2023 is the 110th year that the Taunton Green (the main site for lights & decor) has been lit and we would like to celebrate that milestone.    

Taunton is known as The Christmas City and we are OK with that being in the logo but it is not required.  

The design should have the following

We are not a creative bunch so, we rely heavily on the skills of the designers who enter our contest each year online.  This year, we had two possible ideas for a theme: Merry & Bright and Lighting the Way for 110 Years.  Our thought was to maybe combine the two in some way.  Or not.  We are open to creative ideas.

Last year, we felt that the possible logos that were presented during the contest all looked like past logos.  We are really hoping for some fresh ideas.  We think that traditional holiday colors are a good fit but are open to other color options as well.  As far as images/icons, we enjoy fun & festive images that people will recognize as Christmas themed.  However, we are aware that many non-Christians attend our event (and they are very welcome!) so, we are open to general images of winter and the various light themed holidays that are clustered in the month of December.

Also of note is the fact that the established theme each year in the logo is reflected in the decorations.  We plan to use a snow mound with a North Pole sign on top as part of the decorations this year.  The City has more than 100 years of decorations in storage that include toy soliders, penguins, angels, globes, Santas, snowmen, gingerbread men, trains, and much more!   We look forward to seeing what you create for us!
