Describe your company and organization and target audience

Tradesman will be a manufacturer of professionally oriented adhesive tapes: duct tape, electrical tape, masking tape, etc.

Although we want to pitch this to a pro crowd we want it to be appealing to homeowners, DIY, Big Box customers and similar. In essence we are trying to thread that fine line between not too pro and not too consumer. I don't want to alienate either group.

The design should have the following

Probably a tradesman of some sort, holding or featuring or possibly using a roll of tape. While we do not think a 'photo' type logo of the tradesman would be appropriate we also do not think a cartoon character type logo would have that pro appeal. We certainly need to avoid 'Gorilla", T-Rex' 'Blue Monster' etc. type characters (those are trademarked and taken)

Most all of the logo branding will be on the narrow side of the roll. (That is, if it is 1" wide tape it will curl around the edges, ~1" max height. 2" etc.) The branding will not go on the flat, circular side that looks into the core of the roll. So the image must have some sense of scalability from 18mm high to 72mm high (width, actually). There will be limited occasions where putting on the flat side will do (i.e. marketing material, signage, etc.)

It should view well in color and in monochrome.

This logo will be used for

• Online (Website, facebook etc.)
• Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
• Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)

This design should not have this in the entries

Cartoonish characters that are currently in use: Gorilla (Tape) T-Rex (Tape) Blue Monster (Tape) etc. In fact, we would shay away from imaging like this altogether
