One design approach you might consider is the use of negative space. To get an idea of what I mean by this, visit this site: http://bit.ly/7g2fyT

For being only a few hours into this contest, I can tell the competition is going to be fierce!

These submissions are indicative of good creative talent. If I might steer them just a little closer to what I am looking for, I will repeat the specific idea I'm looking for: "Try to capture the essence of what it's like to be on the river, working yourself into position, and casting to a big hungry trout." Trout and species known as salmonids are the #1 target species for the American fly angler.

At first, I intentionally did not offer other graphics because I wanted see how many directions designers would take this. I still want to see as many unique and varied designs as you all can dream up for me, so try hard not to let yourselves get bogged down on any one particular idea. However, as a fly fisherman who's spent time on the water, I can surely understand any trouble you might have if you haven't fished much. In that vain, and to help you along, I am providing links to images I personally have created in the past. Though it will quickly be evident that I can't draw well, I think you might get the gist of my style. Please cut, paste and follow these links: http://flyswinger.com I have videos on this site. http://flyswinger.com/fsindex.htmlThe Flash is buggy, and I'll work to fix it throughout the day http://flyswinger.com/fishon.jpg

After seeing my catch phrases in print, I am asking that contestants only use "You Handle the Fish. We'll Handle the Gear." Thank you, Ehren Wells
