-chrissoviedesign- you use his idea to do your logo. thats why you can see "differences", but the concept is the same.

-chrissoviedesign- Did you read rules when submit entry? If not, then read now: It must NOT (read carefully): 1. Contain clipart of any sort (licensed or not) 2. Be a copy or "rip" of a logo already submitted to this contest by another designer. 3. Use or incorporate any prexisting image, logo, photo, graphic design or trademark. 4. Be anything other than a design YOU came up with.

Entries in question: Entry #23129 - Submitted by: kallecasa Entry #23161 - Submitted by: chrissoviedesign As a newbie, I have no loyalties to either of these entrants or any members for that matter. I haven't read any of these entrant's posts or viewed prior entries of theirs, therefore I beleive I can comment on this competition as it applies to these two entrants in an unobstructed manner. There is an uncanny resemblance between these two designs, to the point that defending the design submitted by chrissoviedesign in a court of law would become difficult. The position of the superscript numeral two would be the only saving grace if chrissoviedesign were to have a chance of winning such a case. In defense of chrissoviedesign, this style of layout had a brief moment of popularity in the late 1970's and early 1980's when a lot of nightclubs, record labels and businesses associated with the music industry used fonts that resembled "neon," "tubular," "traffic," "Padaloma" etc. to create a "connected" look to their titles. Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember these logos first-hand (it was an awkward time in graphic design). I firmly beleive that such influences would make it possible to come up with similar logo designs. kallecasa, I beleive your design is original and was influenced by some great "Disco Era" logos. It is unique and could become a great logo. IN MY OWN OPINON I believe the following occurred: 1. kallecasa submitted a design derived from some of the great logos of the 70's and 80's. The letters N & W were quite possibly self designed but could easily be a font I am unaware of. In any case I believe this design is unique and original. 2. chrissoviedesign created an "improved" version of kallecasa's design utilizing commercially available fonts, outlining and a different approach to color selection. Whether this design is original or not is debatable but "I FEEL" the resemblance in the basic elements of the design is more than a coincidence. Chrissoviedesign, I don’t expect you to agree with my opinion. For what it is worth, I believe you have taken a decent logo design and made it better, much better in fact. However, whether it is an outright copy or an unfortunate resemblance doesn’t matter, the original design “in my opinion” belongs to kallecasa. Kallecasa, while your design is good, I believe that there is room for improvement. That doesn’t mean what Chrissoviedesign did was right. In fact in my eyes it is plagiarism. Keep submitting your designs and keep participating in logo competitions in general. Your designs have good “bones” and are well thought out. Resolution suggestion: Chrissoviedesign – make a moral decision whether or not to withdraw your entry and stick by it. Understand that it is possible others will form an opinion of you based upon this contest. Your design ability is not in question, your ethics are. Kallecasa – I believe your design was limited by your ability. While I believe your design to be “the original” I think you would be depriving the contest holder the opportunity to vote on another good entry if you pursued the legality of chrissoviedesign’s entry. Personally, I would use it as a learning lesson and give in to the idea that while my own design is original, chrissoviedesign’s is better and offers the contest holder a better choice. Admin – Rules are rules and I wouldn’t want to be in your position. I think the right choice would be to eliminate chrissoviedesign’s entry from the contest based upon plagiarism but in doing so, I think you would be depriving the contest holder of the better choice of logo. This is the conundrum of maintaining a website that caters to both designers and logo seekers: which do you value more? Ethics or design quality? Contest Holder – You have great designs available to you, some better than others. Do you choose a logo with clear, unique design formatting or one that could be debated for years to come as to it’s originality? Best of luck to all involved. Jim Desrosiers

I stated before I have no objections to anyone removing the logo from the contest. I certainly don't want to be considered a plagiarist and offered to show progressions if needed.
