Describe your company and organization and target audience

Hi! I am starting a new brand. I make bicycle parts and bicycle frames.

The company name is High Hill. The name comes from a poem by Dylan Thomas that has always meant a lot to me - Poem in October. In the poem, there are beautiful depictions of nature, the weather, and of herons on the shore of the ocean near his town. Nearly all of the items made will be made by me.

I live in a beautiful area where riding bicycles on our gravel roads has become internationally known as a superior experience.

My target audience is 18 to 70 year olds who are outdoors oriented. These people are often students, young professionals, or well established professionals. The audience is seeking to have a deep and enriching outdoor cycling experience and view their bicycle as a cherished object that enables them to blissfully soar along empty country roads for hours, taking in nature and scenery.

The design should have the following

I have a sketch that follows my guidelines, which are:

- Visual references to the heron bird, which is a reference to (Poem in October).
- A stylized bicycle wheel that is more depicting rays of the sun, but is clearly a bicycle wheel.
- Some use of a wheat pattern in edging. Kansas is famous for wheat and it brings flora into the logo.
- The use of early industrial font types and Machine Age or early Art Deco design sense.
- If color is used, it should be in the gold/bronze/black/silver range. The sense of metal craft should speak through the design.

This logo will be used for

  • Online (Website, facebook etc.)
  • Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
  • Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)
  • Signs (including shops, billboards etc.)

This design should not have this in the entries

This design will not be used as the vectorized image that will be more simplified. This logo is to be the launch logo of the company and serve as a most soaring and artful image. As this image is derived from inspirations from the Dylan Thomas poem, Poem in October, this image should be artful and poetic itself.

I do not want overt bicycle references, beyond the use of the word "bicycles," so use of pictures of bicycles or tires, or chains, or other bicycle parts are not to be included.

I do not what anything that looks militaristic or like old Soviet propaganda.

What style of logo would you like?

Colors to use in the design

- If color is used, it should be in the gold/bronze/black/silver range. The sense of metal craft should speak through the design.
