Regarding your request for understanding which format you will need. You will get a variety of formats from the winning designer. These include the original (native) layered file. This is important because even if you do not have the software to open it you will still want to keep it on file because your printer will want it. And if you want to make changes in the future (as you mentioned when the serviced area changes) you will need this. You will want anything vector such as is created in Illustrator, CorelDraw, Freehand and possibly Photoshop (but only if the designer really knows what they are doing). For the most part I would say no to photoshop all together when it comes to your logo. The reason you want vector is because this can be sized without changing or becoming pixelated so it will always be sharp even if you blow it up to create a sign or billboard. Hope this helps!

FYI- my slogan or tagline is open for ideas. The jist of it would be that our customers order direct from the florist delivering their flowers. We plan to be a nationwide network but are not like other order gatherers for the floral industry who are not a florist; who are only a middleman that takes a service fee to process your order and then send it to a flower shop who fills the order. Our customers will order directly from the flower shop delivering their order, therefore saving money in commissions and service fees.

uglyducky- thanks so much for the info about formats. As you can see I am not very computer literate, as I thought the above response would actually post a new comment. Sorry.

TO ALL DESIGNERS- As of right now 3 entries are up and thank you! It has made me realize maybe I implied too simple a look in my briefing. I think I would like 1) more flowers, maybe a few assorted styles and colors that also will look good in black and white 2) NO PURPLE TULIPS- our competition uses that 3) the .com to be readable but much smaller and 4) < Of The Orlando Metro > needs to be complimentary in size to FloristAndGifts, almost as readable, maybe a tad smaller and/or different font. Not sure to liking square edges, maybe more rounded, oval, flowery, elegant. Thanks ahead of time for all your hard work!

TO ALL DESIGNERS- Please do not use "We turn ordinary into extraordinary" as a tagline. That is for our local Orlando shop only. I am open to a different tagline as you can note in my first comment posted. Thanks!!

I think this is going well- thanks for all your creative designs. As I am reviewing, I am drawn to those that are less animated or comical looking, and more of a logo that says we are professional, simply stated, and classy. A cut above the rest- Hope this helps :)

Anyone have any ideas to make the letters look like flowers?? Not overdone, but simply stated. NOTE- not a purple tulip like my competition. Just an idea-

UPDATE TO ALL DESIGNERS- Thank you for all you hard work! You certainly are a talented bunch! As I am reviewing entries and trying to keep up with comments, I thought I would clarify some things on this main comment board. Regarding the text "FloristAndGifts.com" - it needs to be readable with the .com considerably smaller. The text "of the Orlando Metro" I would like to see below it and maybe a little smaller than the main text since the full name of the shop is Florist And Gifts Of The Orlando Metro. FYI- The .com is not part of the business name, but I want people to know that is the website to go to. I need to be able to change out "of the Orlando Metro" to be able to put the cities serviced by other florists joining our network. I want them to be able to use the FloristAndGifts.com logo. I do not like squares and prefer ovals or half ovals. Maybe using the lines in the oval or half oval to be the stem of a flower drapping around the text. The flowers need to be creative, not so normal flower, I prefer something more real looking and not sketched, maybe a contemporary flower, a cala lily growing over the top half of the logo, a beautiful stargazer lily strategically placed, or even snap dragons look pretty. A flower garden growing above the text is another option I like. I would like a rich, classy color. Not yellow, pink, ice blue or purple. My competition (800flowers.com) uses a purple tulip in all their printed materials, with other variations of course, but they always have the purple tulip. I think I want a logo that can be used with simple text and a flower or two, yet also a larger logo to have the same text and smaller flower version, but more embellished. Hope this helps you in understanding more of what I am now looking for.

TO ALL DESIGNERS- I would like to clarify a few things. First- colors used. I much prefer keeping it simple, 1-2 colors- no purple, pink, yellow or light blue.Something that will also look good in black and white print. I need cost effective printing please. Regarding the style of flower that I like, I have to say I do not like flowers that look like clip art, or cheaply drawn. Also cheap flowers like carnations and daisies are not what I am looking for. Elegant, classy flowers like callas, stargazers, snapdragons or even a flower that looks exotic meaning "different" not "tropical" will work. Hope this helps! Keep up the great work!! You all are awesome!

Thanks :) I'm trying to find a more unified font for it, there are so many to choose from, which makes it a little tough, lol.

Not sure, but I think some designers are using photo's here, which are not suitable for great enlargement, since they're not vectorized. I could be wrong; just mentioning it.

Photo's most likely vectorized. for ultimate editing :)

With less than 3 days to go know that this contest is still up for grabs! We have seen some really, really great logos but are still waiting on that eye catcher! If you have been asked to revise and havent done so yet, PLEASE DO! If you still want to submit an entry, we are preferring an elegant gift box, ribbon and callas (OR) text to look like a gift box with pretty flowing ribbon and callas. THANKS again- ahead of time- for all your hard work, time consuming efforts and awesome concepts!!
