I like the idea of an icon with text. BMW colors are blue and white, though most people in this industry incorporate hues of orange and the Motorsport colors (blue/purple/red).
This design should not have this in the entries
Our customers are mostly enthusiasts/back yard mechanics who repair/upgrade their own cars, though some of our business comes from repair/collision shops and I prefer that the logo is more business than casual to attract that audience

The ///M logo (seen on the intake of this engine, http://tinyurl.com/2dkx5v8 ) is iconic and might offer some insight
