As early as 1200 B.C., the Celts have been traced with origins as a collection of tribes spanning across Central Europe. These tribes shared a similar language, religion, traditions, and culture, and migrated all across Western Europe.
They migrated through Britain, Ireland, France, and Spain. However, the legacy they left behind is most popular in Ireland and Great Britain.
Today, some of their language and culture can still be found being used there today. Perhaps even more popular than the Celtic culture itself is the symbols.
Today, more than 30 Celtic symbols can be found, each with many different uses.
The story of Walgreens began when Charles R. Walgreen Sr. was working as a pharmacist in a Chicago drugstore.
In 1901, he decided to buy the business and soon began manufacturing a line of drug products that were designed to produce high-quality results at low cost.
In 1909, Walgreen Sr. opened a second store, and by 1916, he had opened nine stores under the name “Walgreen Co.” From there, the business grew exponentially.
Meijer is an American supermarket founded in 1934 that is known as the best wholesaler and retailer of food products in the United States.
Currently, Meijer has over 250 stores, with half of the supermarket chains concentrated in Michigan, where the company initiated, and the remaining are in the neighboring states (Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois).
The headquarters are located in Walker, Michigan, and throughout nearly the century since its inception, the corporation has been a huge success.
While Cisco, Eventbrite, Orange Theory Fitness, 23andMe, and Bumble all sound like a random list of companies when grouped together, they all have one thing in common. They are all billion-dollar businesses that were founded by women.
If you look deeper into the tales of these “girl bosses,” you’ll find stories of drive, determination, and support. While those three traits are what each of the above founders exhibited as they broke into the male-dominated startup world, the support piece is a newer concept.
Being a woman in business is hard. It’s challenging to command the attention of the room and have you, and your business idea, taken seriously. But there’s a shift happening, and more and more resources created specifically for women by women are being made available. And more and more women are breaking into the startup world, a world that was previously heavily occupied by men.
