on healthy living, outdoor adventures, and traditional craftsmanship has
inspired these companies to disrupt their respective industries. Here are just
a few memorable Oregon-based brands and their awesome logos.
Nike One of the world's most iconic brands is headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon. Nike was founded in 1964 and has soared into global prestige, becoming the highest-valued sports brand at $32 million. The company is named for the Greek goddess of victory. Its distinctive "swoosh" logo expresses the dynamic energy and upward momentum that defines this powerful brand. It's often cited among the world's most recognizable logos, thanks to its simplicity and pleasing aesthetic.
Dark Horse Comics Hailing from Milwaukie, Oregon, Dark Horse Comics emerged from the Portland-based comic shop chain Pegasus Books. It is now the fourth-largest comic publishing house in the U.S. Dark Horse famously allows artists and writers to retain ownership of their work and divides profits with them. The dramatic logo features a stylized horse that appears to be rearing up. It has an adventurous aesthetic that aligns with the publishing house's epic material, such as officially licensed Buffy, Star Wars, and Avatar: The Last Airbender comics. Dave Dahl founded his bakery in 2005 in Milwaukie, Oregon. Having grown up among bakers, Dahl leveraged his expertise to create a line of affordable artisan breads. His bakery used whole grains and seeds to create healthier alternatives to the typical supermarket brands. Dave's Killer Bread was sold for $33 million in 2015 and became a nationwide sensation. The whimsical logo is a bit unorthodox for a bakery brand, but it's quite eye-catching. It depicts the founder, illustrated as a muscular man holding a guitar.
