Famous Logos from Louisiana As you can imagine, this former French colony has plenty of influences in its state logo, as well as company and sports logo, celebrating the French heritage that is still a big part of Louisiana life. In fact, many residents of New Orleans speak fluent French and English to this day.

However, one logo of Louisiana pride that does not involve a French symbolic spin is the state seal. Instead, it depicts a circle inside another circle, the outer simply saying “STATE OF LOUISIANA” with the inside displaying a pelican in its nest with three baby pelicans, the words “Union. Justice. Confidence” at the upper right, upper left, and direct center below the nest.

What is significant about this symbol adopted in 1902 is the pelican, tearing from its own body to feed its young. The crest is often featured with the inner circle backed in blue, and the outer in white, but can be seen from time to time with both circles filled in with white in the background, making the words and images pop.

New Orleans Saints French symbology is everywhere when you are a Saints fan, largely due to the fleur-de-lis emblazoned on their jerseys and fan merch. The fleur-de-lis is considered symbolic to attach the team forever to the city and was designed in 1967 in monochromatic black with a white outline. It is often considered the most elegant of NFL logos.

The logo shifted in color a little in 2000 when the designers wanted it to blend with the black and gold team colors for greater consistency on the uniform. The gold was deemed too dark when coupled with the black, so in 2002, it was lightened to almost a muddy peach shade. Again, the color wasn’t very popular, and in 2011 it changed again, still with the original black outline, but now the inside of the symbol is white.

Saia An LTL trucking company, Saia began in 1924 and was only utilized in Louisana and Texas for the first 50 years of its existence. Now, Saia has terminals in almost every state and delivers loads everywhere in the continental US. In all of that, the logo has had only minimal alterations.

The most commonly recognizable logo is made up of the company name in stylized letters, the “S” and the final “A” connecting below the “AI” to a point in the middle of the word. It is a shade of vibrant red and is set on a white background. The only alterations to this simple color scheme are when the logo is on a black background, such as a company shirt.

CenturyLink The third largest telecom company in the US, CenturyLink is not shy about putting its full name on its logo, accented with a circle that resembles a pizza with dark and light green triangles arranged in a circle. The company has only been around since 2010 after a merger between it and Embarq became final. Before this, it was known as Lumen Technologies and had a different logo.

Before Lumen, the company was called Century Telephone. From 1971 to 1999, the logo was the company name in block letters with a diamond split into many smaller diamonds to the left. IN 1999, the boring black letters were colored in with blue with a different, more contemporary font and a broken pink circle in motion scooping in and out of the words. Lumen was simply the company name in black letters with the top line of the “E” in cyan.
