Today’s most successful academic brands use powerful logos that speak for themselves. Their branding succeeds on the side of a building, the spine of a book, or the screen of a tablet. Modern students may see these designs for decades as they move from the classroom to the workplace. It makes sense that educational brands use logos that make lasting impressions. 
PearsonPearson is a major educational company that offers products for the entire learning process. Pearson is a well-known textbook publisher, providing both print and digital texts for many subjects and ages. The company also offers testing, online schools, language learning, business services, and more. All branches of the company use the same logo.Pearson’s logo combines a graphic and a wordmark. A whitespace sans-serif interrobang—a combination of an exclamation mark and a question mark—is centered in a solid-color oval. The interrobang is a smart choice for an educational company since it conveys both excitement and curiosity. Even better for Pearson, the interrobang also looks like a P. The wordmark uses a more traditional serif font to balance the informal graphic elements.All Pearson divisions use the same logo. The color varies between departments to show some distinction while still maintaining brand cohesion.
Khan AcademyKhan Academy is a pioneer in the digital education space. This virtual learning platform offers free video instruction in all subjects, for all ages. Khan Academy videos include courses spanning pre-K to college level. Khan Academy is popular for its high-quality content and its completely free accounts.The Khan Academy logo also features graphic elements combined with a wordmark. A teal hexagon, centered with two vertices on the vertical axis, contains a circle and two leaf-shaped symbols. The circle is arranged above the leaves so the combination resembles a person reading a book, or a flower in bloom. Both of these connotations suit a brand based on learning and growth. A navy word mark of the Khan Academy name is located to the right of the graphic. The sans-serif font has an even thickness that implies reliability. 
Harvard UniversityHarvard University is one of the world’s most renowned institutions of higher learning. The university was founded in 1636, making the school older than many of the subjects it teaches. Harvard is one of the world’s most competitive schools. Its name is associated with tradition, accomplishment, and the highest academic standards. Harvard’s logo reflects its reputation. The logo, or the Harvard Shield, wouldn't look out of place home in a medieval European castle. Three white books outlined in black are arranged on a burgundy shield-shaped standard. The books spell out “Veritas,” the Latin word for “truth.” Harvard’s 13 colleges use a variation of the shield. Each features the Veritas books, showcasing the institution’s dedication to truth, knowledge, and learning.
