Describe your company and organization and target audience
The Rooted Plate is launching January 2019 as a food blog specializing in news & discoveries related to: forgotten recipes, lost varietals, comfort foods with ancient roots. We're big on food that has a long standing relationship with the human race (hamburgers were created over 1,500 year ago by the Romans, Tamale's 10,000 years). Likewise, rediscovered varieties of fruits, vegetables and animals that had been major parts of our diet, but lost to time, (example: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/15/dining/drinks/newark-cider-harrison-apple.html).
Plan to open a restaurant in 2020 that is located in a natural rural setting (water, trees, & sky featuring prominently). Depending the time of day, it will have different audiences. During the day The Rooted Plate will target community events (weddings, Fourth of July bbq, pet adoption events). In the evenings, and at night, it caters to romantics and friends watching the sun set through the expansive glass windows transitioning to fine dining under the stars.
Hospitality will embody a welcoming & kind experience.
The Rooted Plate will coordinate events with the township, including parties/receptions for the town's annual film festival, autumn foliage and others.
FYI: This is not a vegetarian restaurant (as the name might infer). While we cater to the vegetarian and vegan diets, we will also serve dairy, meat & egg dishes.
