We Train Dogs in the Ukiah Animal Shelter with the goal of improving their behavior so no dogs are returned to the shelter unnecessarily.
THE NUMBER ONE REASON DOGS ARE SURRENDERED TO THE SHELTER IS THE DOG'S MISBEHAVIOR. DOG BEHAVIOR IS THEN FURTHER IMPACTED BY THE STRESS OF BEING IN THE SHELTER. WHILE WE WORK TO DECREASE THE STRESS IN THE SHELTER WITH QUIET TIME AND SOCIAL PLAY GROUPS, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE ALSO FOCUS ON SPECIFIC DIFFICULT BEHAVIORS THAT IMPACT A DOGS LIKELIHOOD OF SUCCESS IN THEIR FOREVER HOME.
We are a non-profit and the website's goal is to gain support, volunteers and financial backing for the work we do.
