<p>ultrawizardsword.net (abbreviated UWS) is an online radio broadcast website that is dedicated to showcasing the best of underground electronic music as a platform for DJs, and, building a community of friends in those circles. UWS has been on the air every Friday night for about 15 years at this point, with our 15 year anniversary arriving next week on July 4th. Our community is very tech savvy, into a wide range of creative outlets and most of all, very music focused with a passion for underground electronic music (No EDM or Ultra Music Festival types here). </p><p>Our branding throughout the years has been very DIY adhoc, with the early years having a prominent space cat aesthetic on our website that was very popular in the early 2010s. For every week's broadcast we post an archive of the recorded DJ mix upon the website once the show completes, the weekly artwork from promotion remains here as well. Stylistically, there was a shift from the playful space cat aesthetic and italicized fonts into something more professional around 2019, the new direction utilized carefully curated stills from films, with new font atop to denote the more put together branding. This direction is still the most current aesthetic. However, all throughout this time, we have never had an official logo to use on the website, or, on any of our graphic design work for the promo artwork on our social media. </p><p><span style="font-size: 0.875rem;">Coming into our 15 year anniversary it's time for a visual refresh! Our intention is to have a new logo that matches the site aesthetic, and, the new font we will be using. While film stills will remain at the centerpiece of our graphic design, the new font and logo will provide a sense of organic growth.</span></p><p>I will upload some visual examples below that show our current aesthetic, including the Cooper Hewitt Bold and Cooper Hewitt Book fonts that we are presently using. </p><p><span style="font-size: 0.875rem;">Our new font will be Barlow Condensed Bold and Barlow Condensed Extra Bold.</span></p>

The design should have the following

<p>The design of the logo should be minimal, refined, clean yet bold but speaks to electronic music. The logo should somehow incorporate perhaps the outline of a cat, or cat's head, or even half of the head with ear and somehow merging with something representative of a radio broadcast, like a sound wave signal or a sound emanating from a speaker or radio tower. The other idea we had was the same cat elements described above and instead of the sound symbology, we use a vinyl record or turntable somehow.&nbsp;<span style="font-size: 0.875rem;">Nothing should be photorealistic, the symbols used should be abstract versions of the objects they represent, nothing cartoony. Think The Designers Republic meets 2025 modern, techno classy.</span></p>

<p>No colors.</p><p>From the submitted designs we have enjoyed so far, the logos have stood out more than including the UWS text, so, going forward we feel that not including UWS text works better.</p>
