I am seeking a logo design for a research study.  We will be recruiting parent-preschooler pairs to participate in a research study to better understand the variety of ways parents engage with their children during mealtimes (e.g., rules, routines, choices) and how these different approaches impact child dietary intake and eating behaviors overtime.  Our goal is to recruit about 250 parent-preschooler pairs to participate - with the hope that we will recruit families from racially/ethnically and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.  With regard to the children, we are thinking about them as being aged 3-5.  Pairs can include children and parents of all genders (e.g. boys and girls, moms and dads).  The research study is being run out of the University of Minnesota Medical School - specifically the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.  The logo will be used for our e-mail address, on any study flyers or recruitment materials, surveys and study web-pages, as well as some small incentives and little toys that will be given to the kids when they come in for study measures. We want it to be attractive to kids and parents - something that makes it seem fun to participate. 

The design should have the following

I love the idea of bright primary colors, or something similar, with the goal of attracting kids and parents.  The study name is intentionally fun to work well with a range of logo ideas - a big plate? knife, fork, spoon? a child's face? I want it to be something that will attract a range of diverse families. It would be great for the study name to be included in the logo.

I would like to avoid a logo that features predominantly "healthy" foods.  This is often to go-to for studies about eating - a big apple or carrot or something - but this can be a turn off for families who might not feel like they fit within a healthy eating study - and the truth is that we are examining more on the relationship between the child and the parent at mealtimes, rather than specifically focused on promoting a specific type of food intake. I want the logo to be simple enough to be featured on a range of items- knowing that it is not going to be LARGE (no billboards or posters) or on TV - so we can keep it pretty simple and easy to look at.

Colors to use in the design

I like the idea of bright primary colors, something that will be attractive for kids to look at and feel "preschool-y". Something the kids will recognize and notice and also that the parents will associated with the type of study we are putting together.  I would love for it to feel fun!
