Describe your company and organization and target audience
We produce new, one-act plays by local, emerging playwrights. Recently we have branched out to present more art forms: visual art, music, dance, new media, etc. We are re-branding (from ACTOne Play Festival) to capture our new and expanded mandate. While we focus on emerging talent, many of our participants end up being young (16-25); even for the older participants, we want to signal a youthful playfulness. However we don't want to send the impression that this festival is for children; some of the plays presented end up being quite adult in content and/or politically charged. These latter elements need not be reflected in the logo, but we want to make sure people don't show up with their 7-year-old and then end up having to explain what a bunch of swear words mean.
We are a non-profit charity with a mandate to support and encourage the development of the arts in our region. We've been active for over 30 years, and in 2000 took over the management of The Registry Theatre, an intimate 150-seat performance venue. We're a little gem, a best-kept secret with a strong following of local and devoted fans.
Our target audience are emerging talent, established talent looking to engage in a community experience, or adults who are pursuing the arts as a hobby.
