Thank you very much for your feedback. I wanted to tell you that the other design in no way was relating to a fire, but I am surprised that you say that, I never would have seen it. The design is a combination of the letters M D E E. the M is apparent the D is on its side on top of the M filled in with orange to give it some color. The 2 Es are in the back ground, one of which is backward. I am sorry that you saw a fire in there somewhere.I would be happy to redo another image for you. I have not been discouraged at all, and your feedback (especially this last comment) has been helpful. A lot of CHs don't give feedback at all. You mentioned the 1-5 scale, it usually goes something like this....
1=not at all interested
2=like some of the design maybe a concept or a color
3=on the right track but needs revision
4=great concept, needs minor changes maybe like colors
5=looking great and is in the running to be the winner.
I hope this helps you a little bit. As one of the designers I can tell you that when you rate our designs, it's nice if you were specific. Like....rating of 2 "i like the color but not the concept" or rating 3 "heading in the right direction but i don't like...."
Thank you and I will trying again.

Hi. And thanks for the message. You are so right. CH'ers need to be clear as to what they really want. In the design brief I stated simple and clean. You have done that. The icon has no relevance to the product line. The flame icon on other artwork here is also missing the mark. Yet it would make a fine logo for a fireplace manufacturer possibly. Some of the others have tried to use a shape that mimics the D in the name. That IS a relevant attempt. On your entry the lettering fading out would pose a problem in printing on both boxes and tags. Both of those types of printing are not quite sensitive enough to pick up the light to dark changes you have used. Nice look but not for this application.
The 1-5 system might be altered to reflect weather a design is in the ballpark or just not being considered at all. Marking an entry with a 1 might construe to the designer that he is on the right track but needs to alter the concept.It leaves the CH with no option of marking the art as 'not acceptable' so as to signal to the designer to try a complete new look. I do feel for you. As a product designer of some thirty years (old guy) I have found myself in the same frustrating position. I hope I have not discouraged you. Please try again.
Thanks,
David

HI. The icon is not relevant and the type would disappear in most applications. Thanks for the entry.
