Transforming Minnesota's Early Childhood Workforce
Describe your company and organization and target audience
This is a state-wide project in Minnesota to: 1. Help the public understand the critical importance that early childhood teachers (also known as day care or child care workers) have on the children they care for, 2. Recommend policy changes to make it easier for people to become trained as early childhood teachers and 3. Improve outcomes for young children. We will need multiple stakeholders to come together to make changes: colleges and universities that educate teachers, Minnesota Departments of Education and Human Services, Board of Teaching, child care programs, parents, chambers of commerce. We want to elevate the profession of early childhood teacher from low paid "babysitter" to a valued profession with important skills and fair compensation. This work in Minnesota is being modeled after recommendations from a national report from the National Academy of Sciences:http://www.nationalacademies.org/hmd/Reports/2015/Birth-To-Eight.aspx
