Describe your company and organization and target audience

We are based in Central Washington (very sunny, gentle mountains). Google "Wenatchee" and "sage hills" for the outdoor vibe here. We're all outdoorsy people - skiers, road and mountain bikers, dog owners. We care a lot about the housing industry, outdoor recreation, and building small businesses.

Our clients are regular folks, orchardists and hay farmers, small business owners and retired people.

People come to us when they're vulnerable, when they're scared and need assurance, when they're in conflict, and when they're excited about building something (their futures, their assets, their families & legacies).

The design should have the following

Possibly: The word "Overcast"

Possibly: "OLO" This is our abbreviation and it fits our industry - a person with glasses. But we do not want playful. People come to us for serious matters: business deals, probates, estate planning, some family law, lots of real estate.

Possibly: The letter "O" - but don't let it look like a can, toilet, and don't let interior shading look like a crescent moon (we're not from South Carolina).

We're thinking of having a simple graphic to the left of our firm name, Overcast Law Offices

The design should be formal and simple. Strong, but not overpowering- we're solid and trustworthy.

This logo will be used for

  • Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)

This design should not have this in the entries

No lawyer cliches - no "scales of justice", no "lady justice", no gavel, no courthouse, no courthouse steps.

Nothing offensive or aggressive - our emails are printed for judges to read.

We want the logo to give people confidence in our judgment.

Colors to use in the design

Designer's choice. Nothing bright unless used as a very small accent.
