Wow, the entries are great so far. I thought I might give everyone a few more ideas that might help with the design process. Some thoughts I've had regarding the logo... The mindset behind using the word "Leet" is to not only describe our work, but to give our techs a title other then Geek. The term "geek" is a phrase thrown around loosely and doesn't mean much anymore. Our website is "needaleet", the ones you call when the geeks don't cut it. The ones the "geeks" call for tech support, etc.. I'm thinking it would be nice to somehow make it a bit more apparent that "Leet" refers to the technician. Something like an outline of a person, or shadowy silhouette. To us a Leet Technician compared to a GeekSquad agent would be like comparing the small town hillbilly police department to the FBI. Black Suits, underground, special forces, etc... I don't know if this sparks any ideas, but just thought I would throw it out there.

I thought I would just give my thoughts about the entries submitted today. First let me make clear that I understand the amount of effort it takes to do this type of work and am only leaving these comments to convey best I can what we are trying to achieve. So.... todays thoughts. I like the integration of the technicians in the logos, although I'm still not sure I've seen the one that really fits our style. That may be to a poor description on my part so I'll try to give a little better description. Although I used an analogy involving the FBI, we are definitely not a suit, tie, briefcase company. The company was started by two partners, myself and another tech. (This is why I have asked for two technicians in some of the logo revisions). I like the idea of having the two techs resembling our likeness integrated into the logo. Consider something like the PepBoys logo, except NOTHING like the pepboys logo. Just the fact that they made the owners likeness actually become part of the logo. As I'm writing this I think I am realizing it's not the resemblance of ourselves that I want to portray as much as the very clear differences between each of us. We are all very different, all ends of the personality spectrum's, and I think this is a key quality of our companies success. Here's a quick general idea of the "look" of the main two techs. Tech 1: Thin, normal height, buzzed hair style, nice attire (button ups, pinstripes, border-line metro-sexual). Tech 2: Taller then average, stocky (football player, Lumberjack build), LONG Straight Hair(shoulder length, casual attire (T-shirts, polo's, jeans, camo's) Death Metal, Hardcore, (could easily be lead guitarist in a metal band) Please don't feel like I am asking you all to use, or incorporate all or any of this information. I'm basically thinking out loud and just sharing as much as I can so you all have any information you may want to use. Additionally, don't let my thoughts or suggestions keeps you all from submitting something completely different then anything I've suggested. You'r submissions have actually given me some of these ideas, and have been great!

Dear Leet Tech. I would like to give your some tips on how you can maximize the impact of your logo design in your brand building campaign. Please be aware that Your company defines your logo and your logo defines you. This reinforcing relationship should be heeded if you want your company to make a distinct mark in the consciousness of your consumers. When your logo design exudes professionalism and confidence, your company is imbued with the same characteristics. People will transfer their perception of your logo to your company. It is therefore very important that your company logo reflect the attributes that your target consumers value. The logo design you end up with would still depend on your decisions and instructions. When you have to make decisions on how your final logo will look like, you have to remember that simplicity is key. Logo design professionals know the value of keeping a logo as simple as possible. Do not override their good taste by suggesting a different color for every letter or every line in your logo. Keep your logo message (if it is text-based) simple, short and to the point. Keep your logo striking and easily memorable. If you doubt my word on this, just ask yourself why Nike has a simple checkmark for its logo. In the light of above ligical facts and proven reality, i am sure you will re think of your image once again. I personaly advise you please do not over load your image. Keep it simple is the best one. Arteko

Arteko, should I be going by what the CH for this contest wants...or what you want?

Arteko, I absolutely agree with you about simplicity. I may have failed to make it clear in my previous comment, but the amount of information I have been giving is purely to assist with an overall "Idea" or describe our companies overall mentality. If you sort the submitted entries by the ratings (which I have been updating daily) you'll see that the ones that are rated at a 4 are the ones that could be classified as "simple". At the same time I feel like they have keep the overall look "simple" but have also done a very nice job of portraying some key concepts I have added into the various descriptions. Again, the information I'm giving is just to provide as many details as I can. I urge all designers to use as little or as much of the information while making the design as they see fit. I trust you guys to know whats best. I'm looking forward to seeing your entries Arteko. Thanks for the suggestions.

JINKO, You may go for what CH wants... But " Less is more " the term you may have heared a lot in design. You may try to convence him over my advices. Thanks

Arteko, of course I'm going to go for what the CH wants. They're the one paying for the design, but I'm not going to submit just anything...

Arteko, I think I have made it clear that I understand "Less can be more". It does not mean that "The Lesser or Simpler logo is always "more". If that was the case we would all go for a period on a white square. Second: I am using a group of about 100 people, consisting of general customers to vote on which logo appeals to them most, so I feel like the right logo will be picked in the end. If you have the "right" formula for the how much should be in a logo, please submit as much as you would like, as I feel the one that is truly appealing to the public will be chosen. Third: Before suggesting to a contest holder, who has enough marketing and business experience to own a company of our success, that he is going about it all wrong, and speaking negatively to other designers; please take the contest seriously enough to read the name of the company, or look at the 42 other submissions and realize that you have submitted 7 entries with with the incorrect name in the logo.

Arteko is a Joke, please nobody take any notice. You should see some of the utter tripe he posts on other contests. He claims he knows what he is talking about but he really doesn’t have a clue. He probably plagerized that from another source.

Thanks mossy. I was hoping you guys (and gals) didn't see my comments to Arteko and think it was a reflection of my openness to sugestions, ideas, or creativiity. I am extremely open to any sugestions you all have. I just don't think Arteko was trying to bring positve suggestions as much as he was trying to put down the other designers. Suggestions are great, negativity towards anyone who has put their time into this contest is something I won't tollerate on the other hand. Again, great work so far from all the designers, keep em coming.

I'm going to start rating all the entries as they come and periodically update them multiple times each day. If you see a logo with 5 it just means it's one of the top choices for the moment, but don't let that stop you from subbmitting something completely different then the ones I have rated highest. Ratings of a 4 mean there is something I really like about it but it still has some things that would keep me from actually using it as our logo. I hope this feedback helps, and feel free to contact me if there's any questions u have that will help with the design process.

I can't say that it'll be our choice for a winner, but logoguru gets 100 points of leetness for making my night with his latest entry. Hysterically Awsome! If only the general public had a true nerds sense of humor. We actually thought private labeling an energy drink and calling it Leet Juice, leet burgers might be the next step!

Haha thats funny man leet juice would keep me up pwnin nubs for hours :) Off that topic though I would probably pick chaka's logo with the nerd guy. I like it personally and don't think you can do much better for a web 2.0 type logo unless you rip off their layout and do it better which I think is sad if someone does do that lol. nice job chaka! If I think off something that I can actually implement then I might submit one again but I can call them when I see them and I think chaka is the weeeener!

Dear All, I really regret if anyone took my sugesstions into wrong way. I hadn't meant to degrade anyone's work. Converting a concept into a logical design is very difficult equaliy its not easy to understand a designer's imagination. A white square might have meanings and reasons from a designer's eye. Though i would not like to go indepth at this point ( it might lead the same situation once again ) For the CH: You are respected here, you not only bring work for us, we design and get paid but also we learn and gain experience. No comments on submisstions. I am gona make my entries soon. Thanks

No problem arteko. Well I couldn't make the little voice in the back of my head shut up last night, so I did some research found some distributors, made some phone calls, and it's really going to happen now. Leet Juice is a Go! I'm going to be starting another logo contest for the design of the can. It should incorparate our logo (once picked) but feel like it can be a much more fun and crazy design. So keep an eye out for that contest as soon as this one ends!
