Thank you! We like the movement/flow/wave of the letters and the light on dark is interesting. Had you intentionally cut off the head at the top, or is this the result of some glitch in the system? Could you play with larger letters and smaller Shakespeare head? We appreciate your work.

TO EVERYONE SO FAR: Thanks for the responses. We are impressed by the immediacy of your work. Some general thoughts as we go through this process: First, less emphasis on Shakespeare's head (we like it, but make it less the focus and more the accent) - try if possible to avoid overuse of the heavy, period font. Use a "shakespearean font" for the word Shakespeare if you want, but not for the whole title. If you use Shakespeare's head, can you make it a more interesting version of him? We are not married to totally black and white, but the use of primary colors - e.g., bright yellow, blue and red, is not what we had in mind. None of the ideas so far have captured the "festival" nature of the event and Freeport itself is an interesting, coastal town. So perhaps find a way to make the festival specific to Freeport. This is not an easy process and we are grateful for your work!

One more note: if you want to incorporate some color, make it dark greens and golds. Black and white so far is looking good, but we want to keep our options open! Thanks!

Wow! Thanks to everyone for their patience while the site was down. We were SO BUMMED that we couldn't comment on people's designs right away. Anyway, we will make some individual comments in a little while, but we wanted to thank you for taking some time to think about things and come up with stuff that looks really fresh and interesting!

AHHHHH! This is such an exercise in frustration. We are so bummed that we can't see the new designs. So, so sorry! Hope they get the problem fixed soon. I'm sure it is frustrating for all of you as well. Stay positive and thanks for so much hard work!

I came up with the idea about a figure of an actor that comes out of the book. The message is that you can bring his old stories into the real life and alive. I hope it goes well...

To everyone: We know that we have said this individually, but we are grateful for your patience during the downtime. It was hard for us not to see your work during that time! However, now that we have seen what you are submitting, we are relieved to know that there is interest in this project. One note for all designers: this logo really has to "POP" - it can't be a passive logo that just "feels good" - it has to say professional, polished and have a real knock out to it. Donors are our biggest audience right now, if they don't do a double take when they see it, then it's not working. Thanks again for everyone's amazing ideas.

We really thank everyone so far. We have changed the ratings to #5 on a couple of the ones that are going in the direction we like. But we don't want to discourage others from continuing to submit their ideas. Thanks very much!

To everyone: Thanks so much for all of the new entries. So many people have put in a great deal of thought and effort into this process. For new designers who are just now submitting, please make sure you look at the other entries and their ratings before submitting your work. And also, please read the previous general comments. We need a logo that will attract large donors and corporate sponsors. We need a logo that will look great on a website but will also look fresh on a banner that hangs across Main Street. It has to be clean and send a clear message. Some of you have achieved that and we are thrilled to have such a wonderful variety from which to choose. The contest still has a few days left. We will be taking the top five and submitting them to a larger panel for the final selection. The contest closes on Wednesday, we will have a winner selected by Friday. Thanks for your patience and perseverance!

@damichi75: your entry #43056 is based on a clip-art (from ClipartHeaven) which is strictly forbidden. The clipart I`m talking about can be found here: http://www.clipartheaven.com/show/clipart/people/general/shakespeare-gif.html Here`s a comparisson between your design and the clip-art: http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz277/shadowimc/Shakespeare.jpg

We will contact admin about the clip art pieces. This not only pertains to damichi75 but also pertains to mcpixl graphics. We did an image search for this last night and came up with the same thing.

@McPixlGraphics: @damichi75: The rules are clear: "It must NOT (read carefully): 1. Contain clipart of any sort (licensed or not). ...... We reserve the right (and will probably exercise it) to permananently ban any designer who submits a design that violates the above rules." I think admin doesn`t read these comments.

It`s worth knowing that everybody may use clipart without being punished. This place will become a ClipartHeaven (.com)

Thanks George. We are trying to keep it real. Yes there have been some issues, but we feel we addressed them without getting personal. When we have something critical to say, we have tried to do it privately. There have been many great entries and it's going to be a tremendously difficult decision, especially since we have a group of people making the final choice. So thanks everyone for your perseverance. We will announce a winner by the end of the week.
