I have a small but mighty neighborhood dive bar (Think Cheers). (The logo we've used for many years is attached.). We have an abundance of TVs, thus are also a pseudo sports bar. We serve stiff drinks at a reasonable price and our proud that Yelp has designated us as a Dive Bar. One does not set out to build a new bar and call it a dive bar, it is a classification that only comes after decades of successful business. We are open 20 hours a day, 365 days a year. On Friday October 13, 2017 we will celebrate 55 years as a family owned business. October 12, 1962 was the formal opening of the bar, I still have one of the invitations. We do not serve food, however I have counters and a sink in one corner where we often have potluck, or people just bring food in. It's always complimentary. I had a guy who works for Gallop tell me one time: "You know, my job at Gallop is analyzing numbers of large companies and converting the numbers to a written report. I've been studying your place for sometime as I cannot pinpoint why you're so successful. However, I will say this: The closest thing I can come to as your business model is you are very similar to a Church." With the potlucks, and one-big-happy-family atmosphere, I believe he is right.
