Veterinary and Pet Care Logos

If you have a pet, that pet is a part of your family. Whether your pet is a dog, a cat, a horse, a hamster, or another animal, all you want is the best for them, especially when they are sick. Just like we stay on top of our annual check-ups, it’s important to stay on top of your pet’s regular check-ups and have a go-to veterinarian lined up in the event you need urgent assistance.
Given this industry exists no matter where you live, we thought it would be helpful to compile some of our favorite veterinary and pet care logos below that have come out of a logo contest at Hatchwise.

While there are local veterinarians in every state, there are some national pet care organizations that you might also encounter. Below we highlight three of these national organizations that can be found across the country, or even simply online. These organizations have stood out thanks to a logo design that depicts what each brand is all about and given that, we can all learn a little something from each of these organizations.

Banfield Pet Hospital

Banfield Pet Hospital was founded with one shared purpose in mind: to create a better world for our pets. Founded in Portland, Oregon in 1955, Banfield Pet Hospital delivers personalized, high-quality preventive care for every pet that steps through each location’s door. Since its founding, Banfield has grown to include more than 1,000 locations across the United States and Puerto Rico and employs more than 3,600 veterinarians.

With Banfield’s logo, Banfield kept the mission of the organization clear. The logo features the Banfield wordmark stacked on two lines in a classic, clean font. Located above the wordmark is the universal hospital symbol, a cross, signifying that Banfield is focused on care. Within the cross is a dog symbol, with a cat symbol inside of the dog, representing the animals that Banfield serves. Orange is used to represent optimism and energy, conveying Banfield’s commitment to getting your pet better and providing the best possible care.

PetMD

Not to be confused with Fetch by WebMD, PetMD is owned by Chewy and is a resource all pet owners should become familiar with for their pet’s care. Sometimes you may just want more information about a certain topic, like what should you be feeding your pet, if your pet’s symptoms warrant a trip to the veterinarian’s office, or tips on training, which you can find with PetMD. PetMD can provide all that and more for not only your dogs and cats but other pets as well. PetMD provides you quick access to trusted answers from qualified, practicing veterinarians. Beyond symptom research, you can get more information on a wide range of topics and use the site’s helpful tools like its symptom checker, weight checker, chocolate toxicity meter, and more.

PetMD designed its logo based on WebMD’s logo. By choosing to do this, PetMD is establishing itself as the ‘WebMD” for pets (even if WebMD has a pet page). Like WebMD, the “Pet” portion of the wordmark is in a cursive font, although thicker than WebMD’s font. The “MD” portion of the logo features two capital letters in a font, like Century Gothic. The color choice of PetMD’s logo is also different. The brand chose purple to convey wisdom, independence, and strength which is what PetMD is centered on – pet owners seeking out information to expand their knowledge and help their pets live healthier lives.

Veterinary Emergency Group

While Banfield is focused on preventive veterinary care, the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is focused on strictly emergency pet care. VEG opened its first location in 2014 after the founder (and practicing veterinarian), David Bessler, realized that the ER experience for pets was missing something. He teamed up with David Glattstein and got to work on creating a pet emergency hospital that put people and pets first. VEG is open 24/7, 365 days a week and VEG veterinarians can tackle anything from sudden vomiting to x-rays to surgery to any other unexpected pet symptom. Today, VEG has more than 55 locations making high-quality pet emergency care, more accessible.

In developing VEG’s logo, VEG opted to take inspiration from how emergency rooms at hospitals are depicted. The organization chose red as the primary color, a common color used in emergency medicine. This color appears in the wordmark, in the second word “Emergency,” highlighting the primary focus of VEG, as well as in the emblem to the left of the wordmark. In the emblem is a symbol commonly found on emergency room signage, with a paw print in the center, conveying that this emergency room is focused on helping our pets.
