Soccer Logos

Some of us played soccer growing up, some of us grew up cheering on our favorite teams, and some of us took a recent liking to the sport after watching Ted Lasso. Whatever brought you to the sport of soccer introduced you to one of the world’s favorite past times. The sport helps build a sense of community and provides entertainment to so many of us at any age. The below logo designs showcase some of the sport’s signature logos that have been designed across the globe.

Famous Soccer Logos

Whenever you head to a soccer game, there is one thing you’ll find every time – a stadium filled with logos. Whether you support the LA Galaxy, the Chelsea Football Club, or any team on your FIFA video game, it’s hard to miss those teams’ logos.

In the athletics world, logos are crucial. They are what distinguish one team from another and quickly become a part of the team’s essence.

From the jerseys the players wear to the stadium signage, to the marketing campaigns, to the fan memorabilia, a team’s soccer logo is printed everywhere. With a knack for scaling up and down designs, it’s clear that soccer teams can teach us all a lesson about how to craft a logo that resonates with fans.

Arsenal

Like many fellow soccer teams in England, Arsenal was founded in the late 1800s, in 1886. Arsenal got its start in the middle of the Royal Arsenal complex after workers in Woolwich uncovered a desire to start a football club. Fast forward to the present day, the team is based out of Islington, London, and has various accolades to its name, including 13 league titles, a record-breaking 14 FA Cup wins, and more.

Looking at Arsenal’s logo, it’s evident that the team wanted to pay tribute to where the Club was founded. Nicknamed “The Gunners,” the cannon not only references this nickname but also references the Royal Arsenal where the Club was founded. Also included in this logo are the team’s colors, which remained consistent over the years. This logo hadn’t changed much since 1930 when Arsenal first debuted a shield as its emblem. The logo then evolved, adding colors, and updating its font, until the team’s current design was unveiled in 2002. This design is easily scalable and highly versatile, whether it is printed on a jersey or a stadium billboard.

FIFA World Cup

While not a specific team, the FIFA World Cup brings together international soccer teams representing various countries. These teams compete in a championship to uncover which country will take the Cup. The FIFA World Cup was first founded in 1930, almost celebrating its 100th anniversary. The last World Cup took place in Qatar in 2022, with Argentina coming out on top. Seventeen countries have hosted the Cup previously, with the United States, Canada, and Mexico slated to jointly host the next one in 2026. FIFA’s logo story is a unique one.

Typically, with each Cup, a new logo is unveiled. While each logo doesn’t look drastically different than the prior version, it still is a new design. For 2026, this logo features large white block numbers stacked on top of each other, a “2” and a “6.” This represents the year of the next Cup. Within the center of the numbers is the FIFA trophy, as well as the FIFA wordmark. This is the first Cup logo where the trophy has been incorporated into the design, which could complicate its versatility, but it’s a logo that has evolved since 2022.

New England Revolution

A United States-based soccer team is the New England Revolution. Like the New England Patriots, the Revolution also plays at Gillette Stadium, is owned by Robert Kraft, and is the designated team for the New England area. Unlike many abroad teams, the Revs are a newer soccer club that only originated in 1995. The team’s name is representative of New England’s role in the American Revolution, and this inspiration carries over into the team’s logo design.

The color scheme of this logo design is red, white, and blue, tying back to the American Flag. The font choice is representative of not only the Boston Tea Party mark but also the lettering that was commonly found during the American Revolution. The emblem also includes the date the team was founded, as well as the team’s name.
