Famous Logos From Illinois
Illinois is a classic Midwestern state once commonly thought of as a microcosm of the nation. Illinois is home to diverse cultures, massive centers of industry, and rural farming communities. Additionally, Illinois' unique location along several important waterways has made it an internal port of commerce and travel as well.
These three famous Illinois logos are an excellent reflection of Illinois commercial diversity.John DeereIt is hard to miss a John Deere tractor with its signature bold yellow and green, and an equally memorable logo to match. Few realize that the iconic logo has only been around for a few decades. A re-branding in 2000 gave us the familiar logo used today. The new design features a geometric background in John Deere green, lined with a thin yellow accent border. The deer silhouette is now rendered in yellow, with the John Deere wordmark rendered in a sleeker modern serif typeface in John Deere green. Kraft FoodsKraft Foods was formed in 2012, as a spin-off of Kraft Foods, Inc. before merging with the H.J. Heinz Company to form the Kraft-Heinz Company in 2015. Both brands have retained their original brand styles throughout the merger in a nod to their rich heritage. Kraft Foods’ classic logo underwent a subtle redesign in 2012, as a part of the separation from Kraft, Inc. The red “racetrack” oval frame remained the same, but the Kraft wordmark was changed to sentence case capitalization, and rendered in a narrower, taller serif font in a slightly darker shade of blue. The 2015 merger with Heinz added a second, joint logo showcasing the partnership of the two brands. The shared logo is a simple wordmark logo with the most recent version of the Kraft wordmark followed by the classic italicized font of the Heinz wordmark. Kraft is rendered in navy blue and Heinz in bright red. The last letter in Kraft and the First letter in Heinz appear to overlap or blend into one another symbolizing the merger of two distinct brand identities. AllstateOriginally sold through the Sears & Roebuck mail-order catalog, Allstate would eventually secure independent offices, and gain full independence from Sear in 1996. The brand created its iconic logo fairly early in its evolution and has incorporated the brand imagery into the company slogan. The idea for the logo came to exec, David Ellis, during a late-night advertising brainstorming session. Recalling a memory of his daughter’s recent illness, and the relief felt when a doctor told him she was “…in good hands'', Ellis knew this was the ideal theme for the growing insurance company. A depiction of a pair of hands cradling a house, a car, or both has been featured in the Allstate logo, along with the accompanying “You’re in good hands with Allstate” slogan, ever since. The current version of the famed logo was created in 1999, when the color scheme was changed to render the “good hands” icon in white, over a solid blue background to add a soothing feel.
