Famous Logos From Arizona
The southwestern state of Arizona is perhaps best known for the stunning Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, and of course, the year-round sunshine, making the state popular with tourists from around the world. While tourism and seasonal residents from northern climates provide a massive boost to the Arizona economy, the state is also host to a booming agricultural industry, and significant technology, aerospace, and defense industries as well.
Let’s look at some of Arizona’s best-known company logos.
Sprouts Farmers Market
Launched by a local Arizona family in 2002, Sprouts Farmers Market was designed to offer shoppers a fresher, more natural grocery inventory. The store offers patrons in more than 23 states a wide range of household items, body care products, baked goods, produce, deli items, seafood, meats, pantry staples, nutritional supplements, and more with the bulk of their products being organically and locally sourced.
The brand's iconic logo reflects this connection to locally sourced, natural products. The original logo used from 2002 through 2020 featured a white oval framed in green, with the brand’s name in all caps in a matching classic green bold Serif font. The tagline “Farmers Market” appeared in a lighter version of the same font below. The brand wordmark was crowned by an illustration depicting a row of brightly colored fresh fruits. In 2020 the logo was redesigned to give the brand a more modern streamlined appearance. Today’s logo is a simple typeface design with the word “SPROUTS” in a natural green bold classic Serif font. The “O” is artistically reimagined as a vine and leaf, and rendered in both the classic green of the main wordmark and the lighter green used to render the tagline “FARMERS MARKET” in the same Serif font below.
Carvana
Founded in Tempe, Arizona in 2012, Carvana promptly turned the car-buying experience on its head with its clever “car vending machines” and e-commerce car dealerships. Customers were able to order their new car online and opt to pick it up in person from the clear glass tower showrooms, or delivered to their driveway. The brand’s logo was designed to reflect the utopian car buying experience. The Carvana logo features a Baby Blue circle background behind a white silhouette of a sedan topped with a golden yellow halo. This icon is used either alone or accompanied by the wordmark “CARVANA” in a custom bold typeface with a sharp angular Serif font in stylized futuristic capital letters. The first three letters are rendered in a thin font, while the last four letters are bolded.
GoDaddy
Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, GoDaddy started in 1997 as a domain registrar and web hosting company but has grown to include a full range of services geared toward helping entrepreneurs build an online presence. Until 2020, GoDaddy was instantly recognizable for its zany logo featuring a cartoonish illustration of a man with red “totally tubular” hair, lime green sunglasses, and a yellow star earring. Tattoo?...know one really knows for sure, and that was part of the fun. This fun character was accompanied by the GoDaddy wordmark rendered in a child-like bold white Serfi font atop a black oval backdrop. The “.COM” tagline appeared in a classic small black Sans Serif font centered in a small yellow oval at the end of the main wordmark.
The logo was given a major redesign in 2020. The modern version is the result of a collaboration between design firms Lippincott and Codo. This version is a simple typeface design featuring the wordmark in classic bold Serif font accompanied by a stylized heart-shaped icon made up of an intertwined “G” & “D”.
