Describe your company and organization and target audience

We are a no-profit organization gathering developers, makers, scientists, but also artists and designers to develop alternative, cutting-edge technologies to protect and conserve the environment, to develop new ways of sustainability, to promote peace and to act in defense of human rights. We believe that the passion, creativity, and disruptive innovation displayed by the open source, open hardware, and makers community would be great drivers of change when harnessed in defense of the common good.

We want to be to a scientist, or an engineer, an option as valid as Medecins Sans Frontieres is to a physician.

Our first project is the development of a content delivery network composed by volunteers' computers to deliver a sustainable, secure and stable hosting service to paying companies and organizations. All the profits generated by this content delivery network will be used to support a global tree-planting campaign.

The design should have the following

- The idea of the name "Rain" came from the idea of cloud, the most recognized symbol from the IT world, and the idea of a greener, flourishing environment.
- The logo should convey our ideas and principles, but it doesn't have to do that in an explicit way.
- We like symbols, so feel free to think FAR OUT OF THE BOX. If you come up with a symbolic idea, please explain it to us!
- We will use the logo as an icon, so the name and the logo should be separable, and it is important that it scales well.

This logo will be used for

• Online (Website, facebook etc.)
• Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
• Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)

This design should not have this in the entries

- The logo doesn't have to be figurative (so there is no need for rain drops, and there are certainly enough logos around representing clouds, so please avoid clouds!).
- The logo should be as minimal and elegant as possible. Avoid anything too complicated or crowded. We would like it to be as simple as Apple's or Nike's logo.

Colors to use in the design

The logo shouldn't be too colorful, but it doesn't have to be grayscale. We are an environmental and peace-keeping organization, so green, yellow or blue is likely our the best choice. We don't have any public design yet, so feel free to create from scratch.
