Describe your company and organization and target audience

The Hamsa Project is a non-profit charity that serves survivors of human trafficking by funding and coordinating services to cover up or remove tattoos associated with their exploitation. It is not uncommon, particularly in the sex trade, for traffickers to mark the women and men they exploit with names, symbols, or other types of brands or tattoos that identify those people as property. The Hamsa Project works to help survivors reclaim their lives by removing or transforming their identifying tattoos; we also perform community outreach and education to promote understanding in the general public about human trafficking and how it can be stopped.

The design should have the following

I would like the design to incorporate an actual hamsa. It might be in the style of tattoo art, or in more traditional henna-like style. I'd also like the text in a font that's consistent with the style of the hamsa; clear and easy to read, but with some flourish, maybe an Arabic feel. If possible, I'd like to see at least one design in which the colors shade from one into the other, with or without a black outline (for example, a hamsa that starts off deep red at the base and shades through orange into yellow at the top).

This logo will be used for

  • Online (Website, facebook etc.)
  • Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
  • Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)

This design should not have this in the entries

No calligraphy, and no stereotypical "tattoo fonts!" The traditional hamsa design features an eye in the center of the hand; I can go either way with the eye. I like linework (as in henna) very much and probably prefer that, but I'll consider designs that incorporate the eye.

What style of logo would you like?
