Describe your company and organization and target audience.

Ran-Lew Dairy is a family farm producing milk that is wholesome and natural, pretty much the way it came out of the cow. We bottle cream top milk right on the farm, including whole milk, low-fat milk, chocolate, and buttermilk. It is processed differently than most milks. It is non-homogenized or "cream top" -- the cream rises to the top after it's been sitting. This distinguishes our product from others in our area. It is also low-temperature (vat) pasteurized, keeping it more natural. We sell into a local market to people and chefs who care about simple, clean, natural, back-to-basics products and older people who remember what milk used to taste like. They want to eat clean and make local food a priority in their lives. Our target audience puts high value on the food they eat and are willing to pay an additional cost. Think Whole Foods.

We distribute our milk products through direct-to-consumer, retail, and wholesale channels.

Additional products on the horizon include ice cream and flavored coffee milks.

The design should have the following:

We are looking for a logo that is image-focused, rather than word-focused. Our ideal logo creates brand recognition to distinguish us from other milk products and drive sales. It needs to stand out from the other products on the shelf

The name of the dairy is based on the farm owner's name--Randy Lewis. The business name doesn't pack a punch, so the ideal logo will be a strong visual image. It has to be visually powerful from afar because it's often on the bottom shelf of a grocery case. We want to be able to sum up the image in a few words - so someone can easily spot it after hearing only a brief description of the logo. EG—It’s got a farmer with ball cap and beard and a cow.

See attached images for inspiration. The owner of the farm has a large red beard, and his favorite cow's name is Red. The video on our website shows both of them--please watch it to get a better sense of the farm! Humor is a value we appreciate, but is not a requirement.

Words to describe our milk are: cream top, quality, clean, delicious, simple, whole, fresh, natural.

Please watch the 2 minute commercial on our site, http://ranlewdairy.com/

If you want to get more sense of the farmer and the farm, you can watch The Last Barn Dance (http://lastbarndance.com/), a documentary film about Randy and his farm, available on Amazon Prime.

This logo will be used for:

Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
Online (website, online advertising, banner ads etc.)
Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)
Signs (including shops, billboards etc.)
Television/screen

We do not want this in the entries:

We have to avoid over-used images, like a cow head--another dairy in the area, Homeland Creamery, uses a cow head in their logo. See it at: https://www.homelandcreamery.com/
