Describe your company and organization and target audience

We are a mom and pop shop making high-end leather goods - completely handmade on Orcas Island (which is off the coast of WA state, US). We are a small, friendly and personal company, dedicated to paying attention to the details, and always doing right by our customers. This attention to quality should be conveyed in our logo. Our clientele is individuals who value quality. We also create diy sew-your-own leather kits that appeal to makers with great taste.

The design should have the following

While we will also use the logo online and in print, the primary use is that it will be imprinted into each one of our leather goods, so the design should be able to look good as a just a black and white logo in addition to the color version. Also, no details that are overly tiny, as those can be hard to express in the leather.

While our website will be orcasleather.com - we are doing a complete re-branding right now, so the logo has flexibility. It could use a "OL" type icon, or something completely different. It could just say "Orcas Leather" or could be "Orcas Island Leather" or "Orcas Island Leather Goods" - the primary goal is to create something that adds value and class when the leather tag with this logo is added to the product. We will go with what has the right overall look and feel, and aren't tied to one of the word combinations.

Hi everyone. I appreciate all of your efforts and entires so much, thank you. None of them yet are the direction I want to run off and go. I've slept on it, and am providing some additional design thoughts here for everyone:

1. NONE of the "OL" combinations are working for me. I think it might be best to let go of using the initials entirely.

2. I really like balance - so I'd like to direct you to create something that feels balanced inside a symmetrical shape - like a square or a circle (it doesn't have to actually have a square or circle it in) - but for example if I were to try to put one of these very wide logos inside a square or circle piece of leather I'd have trouble making that look good.
3. I think I'd like some "badge" style logos - nothing overly busy though
4. I've uploaded 4 new files: 1. The shape of Orcas Island, in case you can think of a way to incorporate it. It is a hard shape to work with - so is definitely not required. 2 + 3. I uploaded two random logos for "Red Dog Leather Goods" that I found online and liked. Please don't just copy these, just know that there is something about the feel and balance of these that I liked. 4. The sliders in the design brief seem to never save correctly so I took a screen shot of what I had originally entered for that. I encourage you all to take another shot at this, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with! Thank you, and I hope you are all safe and having a good day.

This logo will be used for

• Online (Website, facebook etc.)
• Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
• Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)

This design should not have this in the entries

Nothing cartoony. The "Orcas" refers to our location, "Orcas Island" and not to the whale, so we are not looking for a whale or marine theme.

What style of logo would you like?

Colors to use in the design

I'm flexible on colors. Nothing too bright. Colors that will complement the rich brown tones of leather items. Looking for crisp and clean.
