Describe your company and organization and target audience

I run my own little historical tour business in a small town named Golden near Denver, Colorado. The town was settled as a mining town and was the territorial capital before Colorado became a state. The tours focus on the rich history of the town from mining to industry to tourism. I like to keep the stories fun and engaging. The target audience is a mix of Denver area folks, most of whom are relatively new to the area, and tourists. The age range is young adult through middle age, maybe 21 - mid 50s, generally targeting the younger range.

The design should have the following

Golden's official "emblem" is it's iconic rock outcropping called the Castle Rock on South Table Mountain (not the town of Castle Rock, CO). Second to that would be Clear Creek, which runs through the valley and out between two buttes. If that can be used in a subtle manner it would be fine, be certainly not a requirement. Another design element I was considering was a Stetson hat contour, but also not married to that idea. I'm looking for something simple and iconic that reflects the wild west theme. Golden's history includes mining, cowboys...your traditional western boom town. I really like and use variations of the gold-colored wordmark that can be seen on just about all my marketing materials. The font is Rio Grande. That doesn't need to be in the design, but I would like to use the logo in combination with this wordmark in some way.

This logo will be used for

  • Online (Website, facebook etc.)
  • Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)

This design should not have this in the entries

Minimal text. Maybe just the business name and possibly the tagline. Ideally I'd like to use this logo, or a variation of it, in favicons, stickers, and on print materials with my Rio Grande wordmark. Minimal color variations as well. Maybe a dual or tri-color design.

What style of logo would you like?

Colors to use in the design

Gold is my primary, a cobalt blue is my secondary, but a designer's eye on precise, compatible colors is welcome. See website for examples. https://www.goldenhistorytours.com
