Describe your company and organization and target audience
Small law firm with a focus on criminal defense, juvenile defense, and family law. The majority of my clients are indigent, so I don't want the logo to feel stuffy or too fancy - my goal with every client is to make sure they know I'm in their corner, and I work really hard to make sure no one ever feels like I believe I'm better than they are. have a current logo that has the scales of justice worked into an "A", with "Allison" coming off that A. I like it, but I don't love it. Before I went to law school I was a graphic designer for 10 years in both web and print design, so I'm looking for something that is better and more modern than what I can do myself.
The design should have the following
Not requirements, just ideas: scales of justice (although I would really prefer to move away from that), Des Moines, Iowa skyline (there's a cool bridge, and the Polk County Courthouse may hold some potential), I'm open to suggestions.
Courthouse: https://urbandsm.com/downtown/polk-county-courthouse

This logo will be used for
- Online (Website, facebook etc.)
- Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
This design should not have this in the entries
NO Gavel, NO handcuffs, NO columns/capitals/pedestals, jail/jail bars, anything that implies I lose cases and people go to jail! :)
Colors to use in the design
Blues and greens, mostly. I'm open on the colors as well, but it MUST work in black and white as well as in color, and it must be scalable down to a small item (business cards) and up to a huge sign if I need one. I prefer colors that are crisp and clean rather than dusty, and I do tend to like blues and greens but I'm kind of liking the idea of going a little crazy like fuschia. I don't love red or purple.
Briefly describe your contest
Design free-for-all: Need a new logo for my law firm that is less "Lawyer-y" and a little more fun.
