Ensuring Florida's Future

Describe your company and organization and target audience

The Florida Shore & Beach Preservation Association (FSBPA) and Resiliency Florida (RF) are organizing a joint conference called the Florida Resilience Conference and are seeking to hire a graphic designer to create a conference logo that expresses the importance of preparing Florida’s communities for the effects of climate change and sea level rise. FSBPA and RF are both non-profit organizations made up of public and private members, including local governments, environmental and coastal engineering consultants, homeowner associations, construction and mining companies, and more. FSBPA and RF are located in Tallahassee near the state capitol where we effectively advocate for sound policies, regional planning initiatives, and state funding to support our members' efforts to preserve and protect natural and manmade resources from the effects of climate change. Examples of what this means to this audience include investing in clean or renewable energy sources and restoring natural systems like sandy beaches and dunes that help to protect buildings and roads from extreme weather events. It may also mean improving infrastructure like roadways and water retention facilities to reduce flooding from extreme rain events.

The design should have the following

FSBPA focuses on restoring sandy beaches and dunes to protect communities from flooding and beach erosion. FSBPA also promotes the importance of healthy beaches for recreation and tourism. Resiliency Florida focuses on adaptation planning and innovative projects across many industry sectors such as Energy, Transportation, Agriculture, and Green Infrastructure. Our vision is to have a conference logo that expresses resilience across multiple sectors. It may include illustrations of Florida's coastlines (e.g., sandy beach or dune, ocean waves and / or river system), city infrastructure (e.g., roads, buildings, renewable energy), agricultural land (citrus trees or farmland with crops and / or solar panels), or severe weather. It would be ideal if the design could incorporate a diverse resilience theme through illustrations, colors, and textures.

This logo will be used for

  • Online (Website, facebook etc.)
  • Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
  • Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)
  • Signs (including shops, billboards etc.)
  • Television/screen

This design should not have this in the entries

The design should not contain natural settings not found in Florida like mountains and rocky shorelines.

What style of logo would you like?

Colors to use in the design

We favor blues and greens in the color scheme.
