Thank you for the feedback. The symbol (the "caduceus") is actually a clever play on literacy, because people assume they know what it means when they actually don't, which is exactly the root problem of literacy itself. Let me tell you why: The caduceus symbol (although popularly misconceived to represent medicine and medical practice due to historical confusion with the traditional medical symbol, the rod of Asclepius) actually represents negotiation, printing, writing, eloquence, commerce, areas in which balanced exchange and reciprocity are recognized as ideals. The caduceus is associated with the herald Hermes in Greek mythology, Iris the messenger of Hera, and Mercury in Roman iconography.
