The given design brief is too vague to be useful. Doesn't state what about the current logo is not liked. Does not given any visual clues whatsoever about what the contest holder wants to see in his logo. A vague design brief like that is pretty much a guaranteed waste of time until the contest holder shares some further insight about what he/she actually has in mind.

I do not agree with you on this: "...Does not given any visual clues whatsoever about what the contest holder wants to see in his logo..." : ))) The CH wants to see everything in the logo: tutorials, software, hardware, gadgets, gaming etc... The designer who will come up with single and simple logo for all this - should win an Olympic Gold Medal.
