So far, we like what we see with kudos going to Philliesgirl for the Top Hat clown girl. That would def look good on a T-Shirt. Overall, we need things to be darker and more "Goth." The text must be an original creation rather than something that is already out there. Darker and more Goth are the key words. Also, we would love to see more with just the text. Less focus on backgrounds and illustrations in between Shadow and Circus. It will be placed on screens behind us when we play live and Shadow Circus must stand out. Lastly, we would love to see examples where the "S" of Shadow and the "C" of Circus are either emphasized or even JUST the S and C as the logo itself. Again, very nice so far. Really enjoying the process. Thanks so much for everything thus far SC

Again, it can't be slick and shiny or "happy" and bright circus colors. It has to be a dark color palate and way more demented. We are not slick and shiny people as a band nor are we brightly colored. We all have weird and demented senses of humor and want to convey that every way we can. My favorite author is Stephen King. Many of our lyrics are based on his books or stories. If that helps!

The only 5 rating has the simplest, most non original font...I don't get it? lol, I thought you wanted an original, hand drawn font? Please clear this up for me and the other designers as well, because I'm so confused as to what kind of font you want lol. Thanks

Not a stab at manzdesign, by the way. That's an excellent graphic ;)

Hey JINKODESIGNS, The reason for the 5 score on Manzdesign is because (A) the graphic is incredible and (B)the font is simple YES...but very original in it's execution. The backwards lettering...the fact that some of the letters are filled in, the shading of the font. Etc. It's the closest yet the farthest from already existing fonts. I don't know where you fit in in terms of the music you listen too but look at bands like Opeth, Meatloaf, Dio, Yes...They are all simple but yet ornate in some cases and very "dark" all around. Maybe not Yes but all the others I mentioned. You look at them and you know exactly what band it is. That's what we are ultimately looking for. Something that can ONLY be Shadow Circus.

The only non-original thing I see here is the 'clown' ... such as in JinkoDesigns contributions. Gothic font with a clown is be considered cliche where I come from. Not very high on the creative chart. Although Jinko does make a good looking clown.

I'm just giving them what they asked for...maybe I shouldn't do that. Seems to be working for you ;) lol

Hey all, So, I am posting a few links to websites of bands that we (as a band) think have really good logos. None of these should of course be copied but more as a jumping off point www.dreamtheater.net www.opeth.com With Opeth, look at the ornateness of the logo in the upper left corner of the page. Also, mouse over "FAN AREA" and click on "Tattoos" and "Fan Designs." It is this kind of ornateness we are looking for but something original to US. In terms of Dream Theater, it's in its simplicity that it says it all. It's modern and less Gothic but maybe find a way to combine modern and Gothic into one.

QUOTE: Feel free to use iconic circus imagery such as top-hats, clown faces, or otehr festive circus imagery - but this is NOT a requirement. Options with and without would be nice. END QUOTE If that only means a clown with gothic typefaces.... JINKO is a mindreader LOL cubed

I reckon Mr. Jink doesn't like the fact that Steve is adding Photoshop effects to enhance a simple B & W logo, if it was effective. I agree with Mr. Jink.

Manzdesign, what does OCD have to do with anything? lol...oh, and I wasn't talking to anyone specific there, buddy. Why so defensive, hmmm?

By the way, your design definitely doesn't look like raster art, no sir. 100% vector like you said...

I just want to say that I'm amazed by all the wonderful work you have all done here. Making a decision is going to be an extremely rough choice. I'd like to make a general comment, though - reading this thread, I'm disappointed to see people knocking each other's work. Everybody who contributed demonstrated skill and creativity - don't forget that someone interested in hiring a designer for future products - possible me - would want somebody who encouraged creativity in the people they work with, not cut them down...Yes, some people impressed us with things that we didn't describe initially. A good designer gives a client what they ask for - but a GREAT designer gives the client what they NEED, even if they didn't know they did! We wish we could pick at least 4 of you, and all of you deserve something! If any of you enjoyed the music on our website, please PM me and we will be happy to send any and all of you who want a free copy of our CD as a thank-you for all your hard work!
