are you sure you want a pawprint? it starts to look like a animal support logo contest.

Just so everyone is on the same page, would you like your logo to read "Mayfield Schools" or "Mayfield City School District"?

shakala read the brief "Include full name or just Mayfield Schools"

thanks plasticity yes I see that but it is possible that midway through the contest the CH has developed a preference for one over the other. Just making sure I'm moving in the right direction.

on the full name question - we really are open to both. There are some designs that work well with the full name and some with the abbreviated. I agree that the paw thing got out of control. I simply mentioned that the current logo is supposed to be a stylized paw and represents our four communities. At this point, incorporating our curren logo is preferred over the obvious paw.Check out the comments on the higher rated designs to see our preferences at this point in the contest. If there is a design we like the designer is guaranteed the prize - we do not steal or ask designers to toil in vain. On the other hand, we do not want to pay for something that is not just what we are looking for.

Out of curiosity, what does your slogan "Every student every day" mean or intended to convey?

it means that each student is valued and can learn, there are no "throwaway" kids and that is our belief every day of the year - when we come to work it's about the kids

One more comment on the name issue - after discussing with others here, we have decided that Mayfield City Schools is the preferred name - a hybrid I guess.

can someone try a design with our logo as a more dimensional object rather than flat? Also, perhaps something with the M as a prominent graphic feature?

Something to consider is whether you will be using your logo in a single-color application, with no shading and gradients. I have seen some amazing logos here in HW that look great in full color, but they do not translate at all to being photocopied or solid black. A "dimensional" logo may look great on the web but not work well in print at all. Just food for thought :)

definitely... which is why we would want to work with the artist once chosen to produce variations of the design for those different applications. First an foremost, we are looking at the website, letterhead (in color) business cards, etc that would tend not to be photocopied.
