@tucielo - Thank you very much for the rating on my design, and for pointing out that you like the accent on the + sign that I originated. I respect your taste and style in this instance. Please do note that on Hatchwise, designers are forbidden to copy original elements introduced into the design arena by other designers. In this case, adding the accent to the plus sign was an original design element that I brought to the table. Designers who violate that rule can be banned from the site. No one else did it before I did, although you had received many designs already. Clearly, after your comment, designers "Pinsyah", "kennisa", "ChampenG" and "FactoryMin" all took your statement as a free license to copy my work. I would very much appreciate it if you would A) reward artistic originality and innovation in this instance, by working with me (by providing feedback to me in the specific comment area for that specific entry) to refine Entry #839014 as needed in order to fully meet your needs for your restaurant, and B) that you do NOT reward copycats (i.e. the already mentioned designers or any further ones who take the same easy way out by copying) by encouraging them in any way such as giving them high ratings or encouraging feedback. Obviously it is your branding and your logo at stake, and you must take the actions that will ensure you get the most effective logo possible for your business. But I believe I can honestly say that by granting such artistic respect and working with someone who refuses to copy others that you will be much more likely to obtain the highest quality final product. I have won more than a hundred contests on this site and I very firmly believe that every contest holder I have provided work to will tell you that they have been more than satisfied by the quality of my work and my long term dedication to ensuring their complete satisfaction, even if that meant providing minor tweaks and refinements months later. Best regards, Matthew Veenker Designer/Illustrator

@FactoryMin - Yes, but the contest holder's direction came after my original entry, and specifically stated that he liked my entry (and referred to it by number). You all have been around long enough to know that does not mean you can do the same thing as my original element that I included in my design. In this case, OK possible an "accent mark" is a little bit generic, but I would like to point out that there were many, many designs submitted before mine, and no one here thought of it until I did. Then suddenly after the contest holder says he likes my design, "suddenly" six or seven other designers also have the same "original" idea. No. @ChampenG - I apologize if my words were unnecessarily harsh. I was angry, and should have calmed myself before typing. But still the point stands, and I learned myself the hard way just like you: A designer here must always, always do his best to look at the earlier design entries by other designers to make sure that if another designer has introduced an original design element into the contest (not one that originally came from the contest holder's design brief) then do your very, very best not to do anything that could be considered copying that element.

@ChampenG - Thank you for your comment. Please do review the Hatchwise rules on this point as they are quite clear. That element was an original element that I brought to the table and is not mentioned in the design brief anywhere. I had to learn the hard way here on Hatchwise, and so will you, that one must always, always look to see if another designer has already submitted original work that one's own design is too close to. Even if you thought of it originally on your own, it still violates the rules if another designer has already submitted it. So don't submit it, and think of something else original. There is a whole universe of original ideas out there that have not been used up yet. I promise I will always look at the contest first and do my best to never do anything that is close to something you have designed. So I expect the same respect from every other designer.

Would like to have a separate file for the (+) to be used as needed on graphics and advertising. Needs to be crisp reverse the accent we like the font size and thickness. No reverse text needed Work with additional color options, looking for blood red-orange

@kennisa - Actually I never said I was the best designer on hatchwise. I don't think I am. But I was the first in this contest to do what I did with this logo. And what I said about my satisfied customers is true. And I don't copy. The only thing I regret is that in anger I put my comments here in public when I should have made these comments in the Hatchwise forum and in Design Court. Only for that I am sorry.

Guys, lets see the rules one more time please: "Only post ORIGINAL work No clipart, period. If it isn't yours, don't submit it. If you did not come up with 100% of the artwork from your own brain, than it isn't yours. The obvious exception to this is when the customer is providing a sketch or example that they want copied. Just ask yourself before you submit an entry "did I really make this?" ............................................................................................................................................................... A "cross" and "a" are common elements and everyone can use them. But if someone, for example, put the cross in a this is his idea its a concept, and nobody according to regulation of hatchwise can copy it. At this point Matthew is absolutely right. Also, the CH must respect the rules of this site and do not ask from designers to copy or borrow elements from other logos. Thanks for your time...

This is actually against the regulation if the Ch requested after your participation from the designers to use your concept. This applies to me if I did the same mistake in the contest you mention. If I did I apologize.
