Describe your company and organization and target audience

Small but growing real estate company in Austin, Texas, primarily representing buyers (but also growing number of sellers) in their home purchase/selling transactions. Our last name is Smith, so HomeSmith name is supposed to evoke a sort of honed craftsmanship quality of our trade, while playing off of our last name, of course. We are more modern and edgy than a lot of more established, traditional brokerages and want to reflect that in our logo style. Our primary audience is more 25-40 age demographic likely relocating to Austin.

The design should have the following

The house outline, key, keyhole and such is grossly overused in this market. That being said, I would be interested in seeing an option where "HOME SMITH REALTY" becomes the shape of the home with just the typography. Just one idea I would like to see, but by no means limited to that. It need to look fresh, fun, "with it"--we use "we want it to be fun" in our written advertisements, but those words do not need to be incorporated in the logo, rather reflected in the style.

This logo will be used for

  • Online (Website, facebook etc.)
  • Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
  • Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)
  • Signs (including shops, billboards etc.)
  • Television/screen

This design should not have this in the entries

No purple! We have been using blue, black and white in our previous branding. The black is a little harsh to me, so maybe gray going forward. Blue seems happy. A competing brokerage uses blue/orange so I do not want to copy that combination. Maybe various shades of blue/white/gray...but I am open to suggestions.

Gray, blue--open to other secondary colors. But not the blue/orange combo. And no purple.
