Describe your company and organization and target audience
The GPFC Aboriginal Head Start is offers children from 3-5 years old the opportunity to develop to their potential by learning through play. Our focus is include all families with a First Nations, Metis or Inuit background. Our programming has a cultural base where children learn the Aboriginal culture. The teachings are weaved throughout the program. Daily, the children are exposed to smudging, traditional dancing, drumming and teachings of the seven sacred teachings. We work closely with parents, as they are an important part of the program, and we have many partnerships in the community. We are rated as one of the top Head Start programs in Canada and the only program of it's kind in our area
The design should have the following
There is nothing that SHOULD be in the logo, but it should represent the Aboriginal Culture and the fact that we are a preschool program. Some Aboriginal/traditional things that could be considered are a medicine wheel, feathers, arrows, children, drums, smudge/sage, tipi, dreamcatcher, inukshuk, metis symbol, moccasins. Some children focused ideas might be blocks or books.
We are not on the west coast so traditional west coast art or totem poles do not apply to us.
****If we could possibly incorporate a bear (even just a paw) and eagle element would be ideal as our two classroom are named after a bear and an eage in the Cree language.
Uodate: Many submissions with a medicine wheel were already done. I just don't think it really fits us at this point
This logo will be used for
- Online (Website, facebook etc.)
- Print (business cards, letterheads, brochures etc.)
- Merchandise (mugs, t-shirts etc.)
- Signs (including shops, billboards etc.)
Colors to use in the design
Staying simple
If a medicine wheel is used, the colors would be blue, white, yellow and red.
